In the early 90s she was a good vocalist - Without You is as good as any song now, but she seemed to lose it or lose interest I don't know, she resorts to that ridiculous squealing that Ariana does and everyone flails over it and I just don't consider it singing. Now compare that to anything Ariana does and tell me that she comes anywhere close. Ariana is talented, but saying she's the current top vocalist or deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Whitney (which let's be fair, very few can be) is just nuts to me. With Ariana, I guess it's all a matter of taste because I know a lot of people who hate her voice and her songs because of the way she pronounces the words in her lyrics. Like hello? I know good vocalists. I'm surprised you say that. I'm not a HUGE fan of her music, but what draws me in is her amazing voice. I don't know what you mean by that squealing thing. I actually agree with both of you ( @Madling ) Her voice is incredible for sure, but to be honnest, for her it was just a gift from God. It's just her biology that allows her to sing these high notes. Technically, she's not that good. In this current generation though (not taking into account people who have passed, people from the 80's, 90's, 00's etc) - Ariana is the best vocalist of this current generation. Edit: Clearly some people don't understand when the 2000's were and that Gaga debuted then...I said THIS generation. Gaga is still a 00 act. That song she did with 2 Chainz and now the Charlie’s Angels song have both flopped. She’s really freefalling at this point. Nobody wants to see or hear her voice for a while.
