Guest Adarsh Posted October 3, 2019 Share Posted October 3, 2019 Joanne won because Gaga has become a Grammys regular. She keeps performing year after year even after being snubbed. And now she has proven herself to the voters as a serious songwriter and vocalist so they are on her side. I just have to hope they take Lana's amazing critical reception into account as no one else who could possibly win comes close. I would normally say Ariana would stand a big chance, however... You have to remember that you don't know what Ariana's chances are going to be at these awards, even for nominations. You all seem to have forgotten that tirade against the academy she did at this year's awards for 2 different reasons. For those who forgot, she refused to attend after her live performance idea was shot down and it resulted with a back-and-forth on Twitter between her and an executive and then on the night, she tweeted live during the best hip hop album section and was outraged when Mac Miller didn't win and accused of the academy of letting down his family who they'd invited. She won the best pop album award for Sweetener that night which I'm sure the academy immediately regretted but they couldn't change it by that point. She majorly shot herself in the foot with her comments and the academy doesn't like it when artists disrespect their process and cause trouble. I know she was always nominated in pop and submitted her stuff there but I don't think it's the right category + an extremely difficult category to win. Not saying winning alternative is easier but more fitting. I’d be very pissed if they give it to Ed though, this is by far his worst project. Of course I’d love to see Gaga win something but if not, I’d be very happy if Lana takes it, if not then Billie.
