She did that with TFM

BTW is one of my favorite albums, but it has so many fillers, cringe moments and weird production choices.. it's not perfect.

This thread :fail: A damn MESS of disrespect.

Now, on topic: can she top it in terms of sales, no obviously not. In terms of cultural relevancy? I’d say ASIB has, or at least reached the same peak.

Can she top it musically? I think yes, but not because it’s bad/dated/filler-y cause it’s not, but because I think she still has many masterpieces inside of her.

Not when A-YO has left a huge stain on her discography. We can claim that Joanne is responsible for revitalizing the country aesthetics in pop culture, but that would be a huge reach.

A Star Is Born is on par with Born This Way in terms of commercial success, but it doesn't come close it terms of cultural impact.

Again, Shallow might stand out among other mainstream songs, but there wasn't particularly outstanding about this song.

I guess will objectively remain in the league of its own (even though I personally like The Fame more).

Musically, The Fame > TFM > BTW > ASIB > ARTPOP > Joanne, but BTW will be far ahead it terms of impact/star power.

What cultural impact? 💀 Literally the ONLY reason that album was successful was thanks to TF/M, her hype during those eras were higher than ever and that helped BTW to do good.

If she released BTW as her debut album she would be C-list artist at best, if she wasn’t dropped by her label.

If anything BTW has negatively affected her career, we watched the GP slowly aborting her from pop royalty, by the time she released the last single (MTN) she was over, even with all that promo. Then ARTPOP had to pay the price that BTW caused, not only chart wise, but also her relationship with her team members, Troy left, laurieann left, Mark left, nicola left.

Even Gaga acknowledge that in this video she released on the same day she dropped applause.

ARTPOP was literally the pinnacle of her artistry and it will always be her most unappreciated album. It was marketed so terribly, but it was literally her artistic peak and TF, TFM, and BTW all led up to it.

With that being said, everything she has done she has poured her heart and soul into and it really shows. Each album is a product of her emotional state and artistic era, and they need to be listened to with that in mind :))

Do you have others albums surpass ARTPOP for you (from Taylor for example)?

i kind of never got the hype for BTW in the among the LMs. there are several great songs but there’s so much filler in there. it could have been a great 7 song EP but instead it’s too long and too repetitive.

As I've mentioned above, I DO prefer TF/TFM more, but it's foolish to deny that they are more culture-shifting than BTW. I mean, she made a song about gay rights one of the biggest hits of the year and merged the rock aesthetics with pop culture. She was definitely top of her game in terms of fashion/artistry/influence.

While BTW lacked pop juggernauts like Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance, it was the album that ascended her to the pop royalty status. She might have disconnected herself from the GP, but her fan base/pop culture relevance peaked during BTW.

Yes, I think Born This Way will definitely be surpassed in the future. Not just by one album, but by many, many of them. I think the next several years will be a renaissance period for Gaga’s music. Born This Way is a fun party record, like all of her albums, but it’s too unfocused to be a concept album. That’s my problem with all of Gaga’s discography, she makes great party records but weak concept records. :selena:
