there are always people who are gonna complain every time someone does something good. Anyways, Shawn mendes did this on his tour with Reverb so I’m glad other big names are doing the same!

But everyone needs to address the systems that are killing our earth (the meat industry for example), not lose our focus on straws. Fossil fuel industry, meat industry, all other earth-murdering industries want us to think we are the problem of climate change and we should change ourselves, but really they are the murderers.

I’m not complaining just saying what else she could do. Sorry if I sounded angry - I am angry at the industries killing this earth and it translated to my comment. I am happy she’s doing something and hopefully starting a movement that others will follow.

This absolutist mentality when it comes to combating global warming and pollution drives me up the wall. Y'all are like if you don't live in a tree and aren't vegan, don't comment. Every little bit helps. Simply carrying a metal straw and a metal coffee cup/flask/drinking bottle, helps a lot in the long run. Not eating meat once a week helps. Carrying a fabric bag instead of getting packets and bags each time you go the store helps. Every little bit helps. 

The awareness she is creating by doing this will have an enormous impact on the hundreds of thousands that will probably come to the tour.  Plus the  influence this will have on other artists further tours. 

Every artist should of started doing this years ago. It's actually sad that a teenager needs to teach the industry.

I think it's also important to note that arenas usually don't provide straws or covered bottles/cups for safety reasons anyway. Any type of liquids are also usually not permitted into arenas. At least with my experience. So the initiative, while nice, is a bit invalid due to to constraints of the venues. But maybe she'll work around that?

Edit: They sometimes do provide straws, but it varies on vendors.
