PACGAGA 1,275
Have quality albums every won AOTY? No shade but like, looking back at the questionable winners of this category, ASIB doesn't fit, again NO SHADE. The last winner I agreed with 100% was Kacey Musgraves' win this year. I mean, most AOTY losers are the ones that people will remember in the long run. Lemonade, Self-titled, Back to Black, The Fame, Channel Orange, DAMN... and more I still believe its between Gaga (if nominated) and Billie, think what you want about her but she did have the biggest album this year (I believe its the best selling) and its a critically acclaimed project, not to mention she has TONS of industry support, basically EVERY celeb has either mentioned Billie at one point or Praised her. Beyonce could win it for Homecoming or The Gift (probably Homecoming) as a "im sorry for not giving it to you those last two times but here you go!" Taylor is 100% not getting it, Im not even sure it'll get nominated tbh.... just my opinion!!
mmmmonster 137
This might be far-fetched but I would love for ARUTW to be recognized at the Grammys. The vocals in that were flawless and the lyrics are some of her prettiest/best.
Brie Candy 18,642
The greatest thing about ASIB winning AOTY is that grammys will not need to make 1209210921091290 awards to the songwriters and producers, just Gaga, Bradley and Lukas will hold the prize

zakariah 11,698
I agree. plus ASIB is kind of like a concept album in a way, if you listen to it with the interludes, it literally tells an entire love story which, obviously, ends tragically. they start out singing songs on their own up until they meet, and then their first duet together on the soundtrack is Shallow, then the songs right after that are about how they love each other so much. the interlude 'vows' is paired with 'Is That Alright?', which anyone can assume it's their marriage song. I could go on, but yknow what I mean
JustJames 903
IT really isn’t about whether or not you prefer LG win AOTY for “her” album; the fact is, awards should be as least political as possible and simply recognize achievement based on well-defined criteria. The artistic merit, cultural impact, and quality of songwriting, storytelling, and lyrical interpretation of ASIB is unmatched by any other album during this eligibility cycle. I think not releasing ARUTW, INLA, and/or ITA was tragic and will ultimately cost her what should have been a clean sweep of the GF categories she was screwed out of with TFM, Bad Romance, BTW/EOG, and Million Reasons. The release strategy was an epic failure given that Shallow would’ve easily won SOTY and ROTY had they waited which would’ve made the soundtrack at least somewhat relevant for 2019. Such a wasted opportunity. regardless, hit singles are not a requirement and so on paper, she still deserves the sweep as unlikely as I know it is. jacs vs looser 4,154
I would agree that ASIB is AOTY worthy if it weren't for the pop songs. Now, don't get me wrong, I know that the pop songs were done the way the were to serve a specific purpose in the way the plot of the film developed, and they served their purpose wonderfuly, however, this isn't something the Grammy comitee will take into consideration, as they compare it against other albums.
