Why do fans doubt Gaga?

All of the prejudging things, and predicting failure, and incessantly criticizing her for how she looks or acts, and theorizing she's paying for awards or coverage or reviews, it all is just very bizarre to me.

I don't understand why you wouldn't be encouraging and hope for the best. Also at what point do you just focus on something else for a bit if it is becoming so toxic in your head that you're actively spending your time focused on something you don't like.

Some of them are full time haters, not fans.

Some of them have their own self esteem wrapped up in bragging rights of their “fave”. They really are missing the whole fun aspect of being a fan. It’s much more enjoyable to go along for the ride, when you aren’t stressed about every little silly thing.

Just speculating here:

- LG is multifaceted, and some fell in love with a certain aspect of her, and when she branches out and does other things, they feel like she's not staying true to the image of her that originally attracted them. Case in point: people not counting Joanne as one of her "real" albums just because they don't like the style of music or the outfits she wore in that era. And I think right now, many fans are eager for LG6, so they view Haus Labs, or even ASIB, as a distraction.

- Similar to the above, because she became so iconic for being shocking, unique, and controversial, as she's become better embraced by the GP, some people may see her as selling out, becoming "basic," not living up to what they see as her full potential, etc. 

- They hold her to such an impossibly high standard that they're bound to be disappointed at some point, and then begin to question her. Like all of us, she's flawed and contradictory at times, but to those who view her as almost superhuman, it's hard to realize that your "idol" is just a regular person underneath all of the garish costumes and makeup, and sometimes that means she wants to pull her hair back into a bun and do her own makeup and get on with her day.

Part of this I think is that in the beginning, she tried so hard to hide Stefani away from the world and was so focused on the performative aspects of her work – at one point she quoted Michael Jackson not wanting his fans to ever see him without his iconic glove, for example, and said she felt the same way about her relationship with her fans. Thus especially for fans who came to know her in the very beginning of her career, they were used to a carefully curated image of Lady Gaga, and when she started evolving into a different persona (such as for Cheek to Cheek) and/or stripping it away (for Joanne and ASIB), it was disorienting. 

To be clear, this isn't how I personally feel. I adore all of her various incarnations. 

- And then on a more practical level, I think some fans are bitter over Vegas because it's too expensive for them to travel there, and it especially hurts when she cancelled tours in some of their countries. It's not that they don't want Enigma and J&P to succeed, but they feel left out, and they are eager for her to resume touring.

Thats exactly why, she doesnt need it, she should let the product speak for itself, it doesnt need to carry a message to be able to empower people. It just feels tacky, unecessary.

Ive watched all youtube reviews so far, and only one girl mentioned the message and that was because she read it on the PR box.

The empowering comes from the versatility of her products, what can you do with it, not from a label on the box that basically says "i made this to empower you".

So far pretty much every review has been positive, people like the formulas, but she needs more than just "good make up", it still needs that it factor, that part that separates it from everything else on the market, something like "the first ever black perfume", and I dont see it yet, and it certainly isnt her empowerment message, that isnt a quality. The face lace is an amazing idea, she should have pushed a lot more designs from day one, it has a ton of potential, but i fear that having only one design that is advertised as side content, will stop it from getting the reception it deserves.

Oh and btw, some groups, specially some feminism, let say, branches, are against the idea of make up and even see it as part of women opression, so adding the "empowering" label, could actually be a bad idea. Just sayin.... (i know those people arent buying it either way if theyre against make up in the first place, but they can create some internet trends where they target her for this)

No pun intended, but, yeah, there are literally a million reasons why all of these things, and things like that, with any artist, fall through. The possible reasons are completely understandable and obvious,to me anyway. And the fact that you've been harboring, and had the audacity to present, this petty list of broken "promises" as if they were legit grievances, is  outrageous 

She wanted to change the landscape of pop culture. You're complaining about unfinished popsicle stick forts, while this b!tch has been out here building skyscrapers.

She spent her time and  energy elsewhere. Why is that so hard to deal with ?

She didn’t do it because she NEEDED to. She preaches the message because she has lived it. It’s part of her story. But LM’s aren’t old enough to hear that yet...

P.S. your whole “new wave feminism makeup is a tool of the patriarchy” doesn’t fly with this particular brand. That’s for brands that tell you to be “sexy” or that you aren’t “good enough” without makeup. So quite literally the message you claim LG didn’t need - takes care of your concern.

In summation - hate on the product all you want but you were wrong it’s a hit.

The Message is the reason and if there's no reason then  what's the point? She says this in a myriad of ways all the time. She says all this In the launch speech, in the Allure interviews...all interviews..all speeches...her entire career. If there's no message, it's Eau du  Gaga -- and she's not going back there.

The reviews and  vlogs I've  seen from attendees always mention the speech in positive terms. The speech disseminated The Message in person via Gaga. Gaga, who is and whose brand is all about striving for everyone to be the The Message incarnate

I don't know about you but Make-up (The industry) has made me feel like this is for covering up mistakes. You need it. You need to cover that sh!t up. We only sell what you need to look just like the pretty girls we hired in the photo. And with my sensitive skin, my melanated skin, I felt simultaneously pressured yet ignored. So, I just rebuked it all, and never bought in to makeup. I'm an artist. I would've loved to indulge creatively but alas .

Now, for the first time in my life, I  feel like going whole hog. And these feelings have surprised me.

Of course theres stuff like HL all around. And I am not one to throw money at something just bc Gaga s attached but for the first time I feel like I have the permission  to be come to the table just as myself. Not this weird square peg whose money companies clamor for  but just consistently make a thousand varieties of round holes.

I believe Gaga has felt the same way, knows we feel the same way and is doing something to help. I'm buying in to HL because I believe in Gaga and her intent and integrity has never let me down. Gaga and her message make me feel empowered to explore this intimidating world of makeup my way.

I'm here for Gaga' words, her encouragement, her integrity in making a quality products,  the label, the box, and everything in it.
