Afterpay is apparently like online layaway: You can pay in installments.  I'm still looking into it and of course financing etc isn't without faults but big cry from many is affordability. I don't know about you all but imma check my credit score real quick. I swear, if Gaga's the reason I get my financial life together ..

Don't use all of these loanshark apps if you can, especially if your income are very limited and you don't have good self control. They will cause you bigger trouble in the long run cos it is too easy and they will make it too easy for you to make huge debts.

Or...they are doing it for makeup so they can use the money they have on things they REALLY need.

Everyone has the right to splurge on some luxuries. It’s 20 dollar makeup - not a Tesla

FFS.

It sucks (capitalism amiright?) but it IS a system of budgeting.  If there is something you want, anything, here are the options

A) never have it (always an option)

B) pay in one lump and deal with the consequences of overspending

C) budget, save and eventually be able to purchase it (when? weeks, months, years? When it's all bought up or discontinued or irrelevant to your life?)

D) create a budget, have now it, arrange to pay over time

Sooner or later money is gonna leave your pocket but managing the amount and frequency helps. No matter the object or service.

This type of service could be good for someone like a youtuber or makeup artist that  want to buy a bunch of product all at once. And it's interest free, so could be a better option than putting it on a credit card.

If you use your head and act responsibly --reading fine print, paying consistently and on time-- financing is a godsend.

I pay my dentist through financing. Otherwise nope.

I grew up with furniture and TV from a financing store. Otherwise, prob milk crates with a bed pillow to do our homework on.

I just looked at their site, could you imagine being able to finance your kids clothes and shoes?

The anguish of having to choose between food/ kids school clothes/medical care/rent or bankruptcy is REEEAL! :saladga:

being able to pay $50 over 2 months seem minor, but it's a gasp of air to a drowning person.

Of course.

But knowing lots of users in this site is young and really into lavish lifestyle, it is likely easy for them to feel swayed by how easy it is to get things they wanted and not thinking much of the consequences. Just words of advice is all.

Oh no doubt. That small relief of pressure from owing $25, now, does NOT mean you can go spend money on something else real quick. The later in "pay later" comes around quick.
