Doesn't matter wha your ME friends refer to themselves.

The fact of the matter is, from a legal perspective, arabs were considered white in the U.S and did not suffer from school segregation and such like african-americans.

They were among the very first minorities to enjoy having the right to become full american citizens.

So yeah, please don't equate black history in the U.S with arabs.

I suspect this will be the reaction of most Liberal voters, but could see this pushing anyone on the edge of being more progressive to Green/NDP.

The reaction to this will be completely different than if it were Scheer, as we have a much better idea who Trudeau is and have seen his policies in place.

At the same time, I feel like as a white Canadian I don't have much to add apart from this was wrong and unacceptable. I hope this stimulates tough conversations, primarily among white Canadians, on reckoning with racist behaviour and beliefs in the past, present and how we can tangibly change going forward.
