Especially healthcare, education, violence etc, it'll never get fixed with right wing parties, well less chances, more chance for the country to stay divided and not evolve. I tend to avoid socialists for my country but if i was American I would vote for the most extreme socialist candidate How well socialism or left wing politics works also depends on how its executed tbh theres lots of debates over right vs left vs centre wing politics but in some ways how well its executed is even more important than the strategy thats used theres prosperous Capitalist Nations like Switzerland theres struggling Capitalist Nations like the US with dying middle class and ever rising inequality theres succeaaful left wing Nations like Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark... theres Nations that butchered left wing policies like Venezuela and Greece honestly competence on the part of the government in some ways is even more important than which strategy and spectrum they represent For example... im generaly a centrist but im not automatically stuck supporting Canadas Center Wing Party. If they have lackluster plans and the left or right have more bold plans, i can easily switch sometimes thats my view
homomo 23,883
Nothing about the USA contains socialism. Even the Democrats are centrist at MOST. They are basically the most left you can be on the right side. It’s funny when all these conservative people call Obama and the Democrats “socialists”... like hunny you don’t even know what you’re talking about. 0110100001100101011011000110110001101111

Japan is quite left in terms of bigger government and more taxation and spending and in many ways they are quite prosperous they have some serious issues now but they are more related to extremely aging demographics (they have the most aged population in the world) and shrinking population the larger the country tho the harder it is to pull off left wing politics tbh more taxation and more spending on essance means more of the nations wealth and output is shift away from private sector and more is put in hands of government to decide how to invest if you take away capital from private sector with more taxes and decide to turn it into public spending, you have to invest it well in worthwhile projects and investments that pay off to compensate for decreased business investment in private sector whether or not a Nation can pull off left wing politics and bigger government largely depends on the Governments competence. If a government cant he competent and invest well, its not worth draining the private sector of resources and more centre or right winged politics is preferable A Nation as large as the US is harder to manage than small Nations like in Northern Europe that have made left wing politics a success im not saying its impossible to pull off left wing politics in the US. But it will require well thought out spending, well thoughout investments and worthwhile things the government has a tendency to spend more resources to accomplish the same projects as the private sector thats very aware of costs so thats one of the dangers if the government cant be efficient and invest capital well. You end up lowering GDP and output and therefore impoverishing the Nation if stuff the government takes over becomes less productive than the private sector doing it thats my view. Bigger government via more taxes and more spending (within reason) is not an issue in itself. Some nations tax and spend a lot and do very well. But again, it requires competence on the part of the government if a government cant be competent and efficient... left wing politics are a terrible idea in my opinion

I just always here these people point to the success of Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Denmark as reasons we should adopt socialistic government, but those countries are miniature compared to our 300 Million population. Yeah. Its easier to run effectively when smaller theres more for the government to look after and more jurisdictional influences from lower levels of government (like provinces and states) when a country is larger its harder to pull off effectively. Even policies meant to help certain things would vary in success by region as large countries have varying economies by different areas im not saying its impossible for the US to go very left tho. Just that it would take a lot of competence and thoughtful planning on the part of the government to make it work properly Can the government manage to do that? to me thats a big if
OMonster 15,025
The socialist countries, whilst more equal, always have higher levels of intense poverty. Less inequality, but less prosperity, too. Decreasing wealth can never be a good thing - and that's all that redistribution ends up being. subtext / fantasy
