Things like this are what makes me dislike Haus Labs

Nah, what's the point of this thread? You clearly were never going to like Haus Labs, probably for many reasons. But it's happened. It's not going away. If you don't like what Gaga stands for then you can move on.  Or ignore

Ha, it's almost like you can take your own advice!

Discussing something respectfully vs telling someone to get the **** over themselves, yeah makes total sense

as I said in my previous comment, u're free to discuss it if u disagree, just as I am to discuss my opinion, telling someone to get the **** over themselves isn't a discussion it's just being hateful and rude

i see your point but i don't think it's something to get so worked up about. i also rolled my eyes when i heard that sentence, because like chill sis it's literally lip gloss, but that's... literally always been how gaga talks. she makes everything sound so grandiose even when it's not and it's part of her cringe but loveable character for me.

also don't forget that wanting to change does not necessarily mean she has successfully achieved it yet. maybe that's her ultimate goal.

Yeah, I agree with the above poster – LG herself is still a work in progress, just as we all are, and we've long established that she's extra, especially when she's trying to be taken seriously and when she's passionate about something (cue her Oscar acceptance speech).

That said, in my interpretation, in that interview, she's talking about the line, not herself. If you look at the models in the Haus Labs photos and videos, already she's challenging things, and not just because the models are racially diverse. She has two male models, for example, who are challenging conventional gender norms, she has a female model with a gap between her front teeth, and let's face it: most of these models wouldn't be considered conventionally beautiful – you're not seeing faces like Karlie Kloss or the Hadid sisters or whomever the hottest models are at the moment. She's trying to be inclusive on a multitude of fronts.

Then look at how the faces are made up. Right now, on the HL homepage, you have LG wearing Face Lace over her eyes looking kind of like a bandit – that's certainly not conventional, though who knows, she might be starting a new trend. You see all kinds of looks on the models, not just the kinds of conventional looks you tend to see in makeup ads. Hell, in one of the video LG herself has that green-colored Glam Attack smeared on her cheeks, which most people thought looked atrocious – I certainly wouldn't call that conventional or adhering to preconceived notions of beauty. So it's the beauty line itself that is challenging preconceived notions through its models and through how it uses the products on the models, and through the beauty line, LG is encouraging people to have fun and explore their identities. All you need to do is look at the colors of the products to realize this is not an ordinary line of makeup for women to wear to their office jobs.

Pulling back from HL and returning to LG herself, people are complicated, and yes, contradictory. There are times where she might want a spray tan or big lips or other sorts of fillers, and there are times where she might want some horns or fake giant black moles or lacy masks covering her eyes. She's saying, in my opinion, that there's room for ALL of these looks.

I do get where you're (you = the OP) coming from, but I don't see it as hypocritical, I see it as ultimately revealing how complicated and multifaceted people are. I wish you could sit down with LG and talk to her about this, or I wish someone would, because I do think it's a topic worth exploring.

I get the same vibe about this entire project in that they tried to smack on a "greater" message to something that is so clearly a cash grab. Imo i would have enjoyed this project so much more if she didn't try to attach some cheesy message to it. Make it simple, for the love of makeup and as a business avenue. Gaga isn't really breaking boundaries that havnt been brocken before with this line the same way Rih has so to smack on a very generic and half assed message really makes me feel "meh" about it. BUT I am all about her making money and so happy she is expanding her empire (as long as it does not interfere with the core mechanism of her fame and success which is MUSIC). So to me this is a great thing business wise but the whole cheesy generic messaging and branding is making me side eye the line a tiny bit. Love Gag but she does have a habit of doing this type of stuff to sell things and it may be smart marketting but it is not genuine (at least to me). This is my overall opinion. I see so much positive out of this financially speaking but personally I do not like the way this brand has been handled and branded.

She was saying that MAKEUP is so focused on “contouring” and “big lips.” And she said that with her new products, she wasn’t worried about that. Because her products focus on things that are not about changing the shape of things on your face, which is a common theme she sees in makeup, in her opinion. She’s fishing for ways to say that her makeup line is different to sell it when in fact there’s nothing different about her line. I’ll give her props for the Korean beauty inspired liner stickers but the rest is pretty common. Especially considering that she literally sells a lip liner to “contour the lip.” We stan a queen of contradictions.

Don’t get me wrong, I feel a lot of dishonesty in this campaign but I’ve seen that in other areas, specifically her doing mental gymnastics in her allure interview to find a way to say that makeup has saved her life. But I’m not even going to get into it because I don’t need the hiveminds quoting me all night.

If you are upset about fillers - wait until you find out LG isn’t a real blonde!

FFS, it’s 2019 - anyone can do whatever they want to feel pretty. Why the judgment?

I’m blonde, I’m skinny, I’m rich and I’m a little bit of a bitch

Thanks. This is reasonable, constructive criticism.

who said I'm upset about fillers, ma'am read the whole thing. This is the 3rd or 4th time in this thread that I say the thread isn't about her fillers but about her words.

No, no. You really need to get over yourself. You're dismissing her whole beauty line because she's had some fillers, a procedure that's so common in Hollywood that it's like getting a haircut in normal people's world.

I'm so glad HL has been warmly received. You can tell the phans who were waiting with waited breath for it to get ripped on.

And funnily enough, I've read posts from a lot of bloggers and MUAs who were there last night and they all loved her speech and what she stands for.

Pssst, a lot of them have fillers etc too 😉

The thread is about what she practices vs what she preaches. Not fillers, or the makeup line. I stated in the beginning of the thread saying I don't mind the makeup line, I mind the way she's promoting it, but here you are accusing and doing the most.

I think I explained it here better

You seem to be under the skewed impression that because Gaga may have fillers that it automatically means she requires EVERYONE to have fillers. Shes saying you don’t have to have big lips to matter to HER or to SOCIETY. She’s saying “here’s my make up, use it to express what you feel is beautiful & feel empowered.” How are you not getting that through your head? She’s said it enough times like ffs stop complaining on GGD about someone you don’t even know. It’s literally all you do. Is your life really that small bruh? Get a grip 😬
