ItWasntLaauv 6,392
It’s just makeup, I don’t see the big deal. If it was a boy wearing makeup and the dad said no, a ton of people would probably say they’re homophobic or sumn.
ear condom 964
Quite often the implicit argument to " why you shouldn't let your kid go out with make up on " is that it's " inappropriate ( = too sexual ) " for a kid to do so. What's really inappropriate in the first place and to me is an adult, especially a man, sexualizing kids/young teens like wtf ? Just like why are we (society) sexualizing every centimetre of our skin, especially girls/women's bodies ? Just a general observation regarding the sexual dimension of it, of course we can find additional reasons (skin health....)

River 117,819
Title make is sound like 2 countries are fighting like N and S Korea Anyway, kids should be kids, but kids should have their own opinion, so it's a tricky thing. Should she put makeup because she wants it? yes of course, her body, her choice. but when it's crossing the line of "fun and games" and becomes something that she can't leave the house without it and makes her look older than her age, this is the time where the parents needs to step in, but never ever ban or limit the kid, they are their own people, you just need to guide them. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
Guest
Well... she’s literally a child so I don’t think banning her from wearing make up is that obnoxious 😂 pretty sure most parents don’t let their children wear actual make up. Maybe when they’re playing dress up or having a tea party & sh*t but not all day everyday.
Versace 7,980
I lowkey agree with him for the first time ever. She is 6!!! My God, the girl need not acknowledge the beautifying capabilities of makeup this young. She'll become reliant on it, if she makes a habit of it at this age. Children have gorgeous skin, they should definitely embrace. She shouldn’t feel like she's less pretty without it which at 6 is something her mind could totally and dangerously reach for. Let the girl have a normal childhood which for most kid girls is makeup free.
whocares 2,122
This is ok and all. But will you be banning photoshop? The mother of your child photoshopped your kid’s body once. That’s actually worse Mr. West.

Why “especially a man?” Women sexualize children/teens too. There are tons of women who are in jail for that. So it’s not “ESPECIALLY” wrong when a man does it, it’s wrong when ANYONE does it. Female pedophiles exist at the same rate as male pedophiles. Shameless did a whole episode where they try to drive out a pedophile who moved into the neighborhood only to find that it’s an attractive woman & are suddenly fine with it. This type of thinking is a byproduct of societal sexism that plays into the “you’re lucky if a woman rapes you” rhetoric & men who are sexually abused are laughed at or not taken seriously. So let’s stop with this whole “only men are pedophiles” narrative because it’s not only men.
artpopsexual 1,791
I also don't think it's good for kids to wear makeup. Like, it's ok to play with it sometimes, just for fun, but in general, it's not something healthy.

By "especially" I meant "most of the time (men) " It’s all good, I didn’t mean to seem like I was attacking or anything. I just know people who’ve been abused by women before & I've seen how people react to finding out about it. They usually laugh & say “you’re so lucky” or “I wish I had a teacher like that” or “that’s every mans dream” so I just got a little offended. Bear 7,515
Makeup has a lot of power. It's a tool to express yourself but it can also be a way to hide insecurities and to improve your self image. It's too easy to become reliant on it to make yourself feel beautiful. While playing around and having fun is fine, I can totally understand not allowing it as an everyday thing to someone so young becase it's actually quite a mature thing to process that is beyond the scope of a 6 year old. I also don't think it's the best for young sensitive skin like that product wise.
