Why is Katy suddenly irrelevant?

I mean if you think outside of the fandom knowledge, what has she actually done recently thats noteworthy?  She hasnt really reinvented herself much at all, save for the haircut and Witness which didnt go down well at all. I think she could do good things by going a bit underground and gaining a following from there - a bit like CRJ did with E•MO•TION to break away from the mainstream and distance from the one hit wonder tag. It became such a massive project for her and pulled in so many new listeners even though it wasnt really in the mainstream public eye.

Because the life of a popstar is pretty short, pop music and even more so current pop music is based on trend chasing. Most of her music is made to fit the trends of that moment, and as such her music ages badly and when the fanbase grows and discover other type of music they stop looking out for her music

She's an established name so younger audiences don't look out for her, and her demographic grows older and demands more quality in the music they listen to. She failed to give quality because she's a one trick pony, and hence she's flopping until she reinvents herself with a more mature sound and/or sound that is brought to the table by her

I wonder how many artists, besides Gaga, are multi-talented enough to reinvent themselves.  And is it really necessary for artists who have established a style which defines them?  And couldn't changing from that style have backlash?  Dylan took huge backlash when he went electric.  His fans wanted him to continue his acoustic folk music. Dylan didn't need to reinvent, he did it because he wanted to.   Has people's tastes changed so much that Katy needs to reinvent?   I guess I don't understand why Katy can't be Katy.

I live outside the space time continuum.

It's natural process. People will get bored of Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande too eventually. Pop legends like Madonna's longevity happen once in a century.
