Why is Katy suddenly irrelevant?

Katy Perry is, like, one of the few popstars that never tried anything new. Same music, same image, same lyrics. For 10 years by now. Every pop girl had reinventions in their career. The only huge reinvention Katy has had, was when she cut her hair. And we all know how both KatyCats and pop culture fans reacted to it.

She was literally unstoppable in Prism, Witness got attention even without her turning herself into a meme, and now she just released 3 random tracks, I literally can't remember their names because I don't acknowledge them enough :triggered: Why is she suddenly sinking into the irrelevant hole and slept on?

Because fans want "depth" from their artists now....

Gaga **** wrecked everyone else...

You’re probably remembering her Witness era wrong.

I’ve always struggled to warm to Kathryn, but always respected her grind and appreciated the music she created.

Despite the fact I personally surprisingly found a lot to like in Witness it did not resonate with audiences at all.

Have really enjoyed the new songs too, actually.

CTTR and Swish Swish was really popular for obvi reasons, the only bad move I can remember is Hey Hey Hey's MV

"I heard if you record Gaga snoring and play it backward it sounds like an act. 2 unreleased."

NRO did fair, considering how 2017 and 2018 went. A decent chart peak with really, really good reception- but, she didn't do anything with it. I think she's in a weird limbo spot, where she can easily climb up to an okay-ish area (not TD/Prism-level, but still okay) if she releases decent, non-offensive pop songs.

[Small Talk just wasn't that good imo]

Witness is so good to me and I still listen to it . I’m surprised the album gets so much hate on here.  I kind of liked her before witness her songs were good but was never a mega fan then witness came out and it was like finally I’ve been missing this kind of music. It figures when she lost mainstream popularity that’s when I started to really like her but I can’t be the only one that loved witness.

I swear these video ads in the corner of GGD on mobile are tracking my thread visits :lmao: A 60 second video about Katy and Taylor making peace is playing.

Anyway, on topic: I hope she finds success again.  Maybe it's time to switch things up and try something new with her sound

She tried to become something she's not. Literally nobody asked for it. Also she doesn't seem that invested in music any more:poot:

she needs to realize she won’t ever get a hit so instead she should try experimental sounds and create a cult fanbase instead of losing it all... so many katycats on twitter left stanning her after small talk, they’re tired of her cheesy pop image

Taylor Swift should be careful...cause if her new projects aren't successful she could become irrelevant too although she's much more significant in the music scene than Katy Perry.

Katy Perry achieved a lot of success but just like Backstreet Boys did back in early 2000s, the question is, did she make an impact? Now Im not too sure how to answer that question...

If you compare her with Taylor Swift (even though they arent really the same in my opinion apart from making pop music), the question would be easy to answer, yes Taylor has made quite a small impact I would say in music history, so she has less chances to fall down the hole of irrelevancy so suddenly.

Yeah I get you

The problem is, Katy is still clinging on to her 'TFM phase' even though it's long gone. She needs to move onto something more experimental 'her ARTPOP phase' so that she can progress. If Gaga had released another album similar to TFM instead of BTW, I'm certain it would've flopped. She's clinging onto her peak image even though her peak is long over....
