I absolutely love It, despite the fact that I’ve seen a few monsters and that one vocal coach on YouTube say it wasn’t good...

She also used that kind of singing style when collabing with U2 that same summer. I’m not exactly sure what she’s doing, so can one of you guys explain it?

I love this performance so much! I know which vocal coach you're talking about and I don't think she is very great coach.

Belting? And I think she’s using her mixed voice rather than her head or chest voice. I love it too tho in some parts you can listen to her straining so she's not using the technique properly I think, I'm not a vocal coacj but I sing so I guess I know a liiiitle bit. :messga:

I don’t think that’s it...

for example I mean like 3:25-3:35 https://youtu.be/q3ues1stefk

3:20 - 3:35 https://youtu.be/OZfXckUCTWY

Are you talking about how she opens up the ends of her vowels (like "kill or die fahh") and makes the note wobble? The wobble is called a vibrato and singers diminish the end consonants of words to help get a clearer note or better vibrato

She sounds amazing here and she seems to sing so effortlessly as well.

She does seem to struggle at a certain point when she belts but it's not a harsh belt like when she sings La Vie En Rose. It's like she's trying to be more gentle with her delivery.

I don't know what the technique is called though.

Most belting is mixed voice because no one can belt above E4 in all chest. There can be cases that people can have a more chesty or heady mix while belting but regardless, it’s always a mix above E4. However you are correct about the straining. She does strain a lot when she is singing above Eb5

Smother Em Eh

It’s interesting it’s like she switches to a lighter tone to her “dope” back and forth.

I like it too

She is rounding her vowels, and darkening her tone by pushing her voice towards the back of her throat- She does this quite often, depending on the song. I'm not a big fan of when she over does it-and in this performance she overdoes it.
