seashellplay 512
ARTPOP was released so late due to the her working her arse off and then her hip goes my idea of proper singles would be applause + aura (edm) dwuw guy and then conclude era w gypsy but this really only functions in 2012/2013 as planned -- i think the singles chosen were at least the smartest considering the time

I know a lot of people like that song but it was the beginning of her fall as the biggest popstar in the planet. If she had released TEOG as a second single it would have probably gone to number one. 2. Acting like she’s superior to her peers because she’s a real artist and others are not. We all know Gaga is different from your average popstar, but no one likes that attitude. It turned a lot of people off and they started rooting against her. 3. ARTPOP’s concept. If she named ARTPOP any other name and dropped the whole art teacher vibe I bet the era wouldn’t have underperformed as much. Do What U Want could have been top 10 and possibly top 5. i think no one really gave a **** about the ARTPOP concept other than us and herself, gp probably can't even spell the name warhol. the whole reverse warholian thing was actually pretty interesting, most pop artists do ARTPOP but on a subconscious level - but i get why you dislike the 'art teacher' attitude. the whole ARTPOP theme was really not actually that abundant in the singles, the most 'ARTPOP-y' thing in applause was the whole line on pop art and i'm definite most people in the gp wouldnt even acknowledge the lyrical content and would just like the synthesizer

The concept wasn't strong enough for critics and art enthusiasts to buy and was too complicated for the general audience to understand.
seashellplay 512
i think people just want to add favorites compared to what actually makes $$$, gaga can go on her artsy crusade for the gays and put greek statues everywhere while interscope loses money, the singles chosen were the best for the time, if released earlier as planned aura could've worked because it's just the time where edm was simply more popular. people liked songs like gypsy back then, it was before miley and katy were doing bigger things

I distinctly remember that title belonging to Kanye West, not Lady Gaga. And there were other women who were more disliked than Gaga was, such as Amanda Bynes, Lindsey Lohan, Miley Cyrus, and Lorde (exclusively in the black community). Also an athlete named Ryan Lochte was looked down upon that year as well. Was Gaga disliked? Yeah, she was, but she most certainly wasn’t “the most hated person on the planet”. The entire ARTPOP ordeal was unfortunate and unjustified, but it wasn’t horrible. There's no way Kanye or the others were more hated than Gaga Only Justin (eventually) And sorry but the ARTPOP era WAS horrible. Whatever Gaga did, she ended up being insulted/threatened everybody including the media, everybody was making fun of her. Literally, ARTPOP was 100x worse than Witness

djparky 262
Releasing Born this way singles while she was still touring The Fame Monster. She would have been better served delaying BTW album for a year then she could have had a break and then done it properly The other big one is working with R Kelly

seashellplay 512
tbh ARTPOP really isn't as legendary as people proclaim and her whole pretentious aura being high virtually all of the time definitely influenced the product, but it's still a good era and album, it's gaga -- it was going to be this massive multimedia project -- it sort of capitalized off of the distorted ****ed up quality of the era though, disney princess addicts going to raves, aphrodite + edm, all of the characters she played, the artRAVE, it was a mess and it was proud of it being so. after ARTPOP, it would be extremely hard to 'top it' in terms of 'oddity'
