There are tons of people in Hong Kong fighting for their life. It is time for the rest of the world to show their freaking support to Hong Kong, and stop sucking China ****. The world really needs to step up, cuz before long, it will affect us all. Not too long ago, a group of Chinese nationalists were waving giant Chinese flags around in Vancouver during their pro-China demonstration to face off with Hong Kong supporters. It's a mess... You got that right, they know in China they'd be miserable, they are reaping the rewards of living in a democratic western culture (whichever that may be), all while pledging their allegiance to China. It's pretty morbid. Corporations all over the world are already bending over backwards to appease RIDICULOUS!!! Chinese demands. It's amazing how eager they are to become nationalists after doing everything they can to get their foreign citizenships, it's equally ironic how they suddenly want to influence the western societies they live in into adopting their values. Don't get me wrong, a multicultural society is great, but some of their values are backwards and hateful. I live in Vancouver, and every so often, they would protest anything that benefits or shows support towards the LGBTQ+ community - a few days ago, a bunch of homophobic posters were plastered all over in Richmond, BC. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/homophobic-posters-richmond But sometimes corporations bending backwards isn't enough... And considering how big the Montreal parade is, there was a lot of safety issues at play. Now, during the parade, it so happens that I was watching it around the entrance of the Chinatown. About halfway in the parade, we started seeing a group of Chinese people on the other side of the boulevard. They were about 50-70 people, ages 7-97. I noticed the Hong Kong flag first, but then I noticed the rest were all Chinese flags. It was clear that they were a pro-Chinese government group. They stood at the entrance for a while, wasn't clear what they were doing or trying to do. A little later, it got to the minute of silence, where everyone shuts up and raise their fists in the air, to commemorate those who died this year. And I swear the moment it started, the protestors started singing what seemed to be the Chinese national anthem. A man selling ice cream and water for the parade lost his **** and told them how disrespectful it was, and told them to shut up.. only to be replied "why don't YOU shut up". It was sad to see. But when the minute was over, our cheering completely buried their chant, and we kept ignoring them afterwards. They are living outside Mainland and enjoying their freedom. While ironically defending their parents or great great great great grandparents homeland that many of them don't even born in. They don't even understand what happened. Just did it because of provocation and fake news. And all those who came from Mainland to study are embarrassing af. They only got fake news from Weibo and other Mainland channels which are clearly monitored. Honestly, Fxck them! Those protestors have no shame, it's embarrassing, they make everyone (including myself) who happens to be ethnically Chinese look like idiots.
