Tbh it's just kinda cringe. It's like that friend who watches two episodes of drag race and starts saying hunty, slay and YAAS while calling you her gay bff. I'm not mad at her for speaking out about it but people acting as though she's doing something groundbreaking when she's just hoping onto the trend when it's "safe" is just kinda... Boring :lana:

I love Lover though. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I guess my point is that Gaga's use of LGBTQ imagery comes across more authentic as she stood for us, from the beginning mind you, when it wasn't "cool". Same with Madonna. Taylor had been in the industry over TEN YEARS before she voiced support for our community. I just find it kind of trend-hopping and desperate now when everyone else wants to come to our party, you want your name on the list. :trollga:

I don’t know, I guess I personally just feel like it’s better late than never. Regardless of when or how she spoke up, she spoke up and is spreading the message. She’s not just putting a gay person in a music video for views, shes not using the community as a prop, she’s including a petition and taking action to make a change. An ally is an ally, and whether they’ve been vocal from day one or not, that doesn’t matter. It matters that she’s vocal now, and in my opinion, anyone standing up and supporting the cause is a good thing.

I agree to some extent.. but it seems all very convenient. I never had a doubt in my mind that she supported us - I knew she was a liberal even when she didn’t say a word - but it seems a little inauthentic and baiting to speak for us when there’s been years and years of opportunity to do so.

I like the song and video but past that it’s nothing special or culturally impactful like a song like BTW.

I can see where you’re coming from. Maybe the current climate and the Equality Act has made her feel like now was the right time to speak out? Who knows what her motives were, but I personally still like seeing her speak out, but that’s just me. Either way, the song and video are still super fun and I’m glad to see it win the award!

I find it odd how Old Town Road won for Song of the Year. It makes sense that Taylor stans/supporters would be more behind it for SOTY just like how it won for VOTY. Like, it's almost painfully obvious these awards are rigged? :emma:

I get yours points but she supported LGBT people in the past too. She sent letter to her fans married, she played king of my heart for gay couple, mean music video, reputation tour speach for gender equality, her donations etc.

And ı could agree she was using this if it was profitable but she lost more than what she earned. She has huge conservative base because of her country days. She sold out stadium shows at dark red stated like Kansas, Lousiana, Kentucky, Tennessee etc. And she probably won't play shows at most of them now. How many artist support LGBT filled stadiums in USA? Even Madonna and Gaga didn't. If she earned 1 more fan, she lost 10.

And she did more than the song. Her petition surpassed half million sign, 5 senator supported it and white house answered after her VMA speech about gender equality petition.

It means supporting LGBT for profit like you claimed never worked in USA and examples are there. She didn't do it for profit. It was pretty clear after your and my comments whole point was that subject. I don't get what you didn't understand.

You said "How many artists support LGBT filled stadiums in the US?" I really don't get what that means? Like everyone in the stadium is LGBT? Her main fans are LGBT?

Like ı said, ıf LGBT was profittable like you said, artists support it should fill stadiums. Can they? No. Yes Gaga's and Madonna's were. Taylor's aren't or weren't. She filled stadiums with the support of conservatives too. And she lost it now. It is not profitable.

??? Of course Madonna did. And she has been vocal about gay rights since the 80s, risking her career bc of that. Same with Gaga, and she filled stadiums too, although she has never had a Stadium Tour.
