I'm so sure it's gonna be a mess by the 3rd episode, it always is well in a couple of seasons., idk how they tie everything up by the end of the season but they manage to do it, the problem is the journey to get there is just not enjoyable for me I agree, sadly. As much as I love a complex and intricate plotline, AHS doesn't really know how to handle it. I would love this season to try doing something simpler, even if it's not the usual forte of an AHS plotline. Like, good characters, decent plot, and maybe even one (just one!) compelling twist are all that's needed for an 80's slasher horror-mystery tribute. That's not too much to ask for, right? I think that's why I enjoyed Cult so much- like Asylum, it had a tight and compelling narrative, with the advantage of much less random things going on in the background. 3 points in and ready for more
RahrahWitch 6,985
Ummm I don't know how to feel about it, It's like a Mix of Friday the 13th and Halloween which might not be bad but It's something that's been done so many times before. I love when AHS is Supernatural, Give me Witches, Vampires, Aliens, Demons and Ghosts. If this goes the route of Cult with no Supernatural Elements I just know I'm going to get bored. They focused much more around a couple characters, to me Asylum is the best season, the plot twist gives you chills bcs of how much u didnt see it coming, and it's horrifying. Seasons like Roanoke are difficult to follow because we dont have a clear idea of what the underlying theme of the story is, and what the characters' goals are + too many characters, and not enough clues what the story is about in the end. Sometimes AHS tends to fall in dark humor a little too much, and it kills the credibility of the plot, at times, but when it's in the right dose it's perfect

The trademark AHS "twist" was never better than it was in Asylum. It was probably the most dread I've felt in the show, honestly. And yeah, Asylum and (in my opinion) Cult felt compelling because they focused mainly on a few characters, with the rest of the cast offering very well-done complement without feeling stifling. Hotel and Roanoke had a very interesting set of characters- the former having probably the best character set on the show, and the latter having probably the most entertaining set in its second half. Unfortunately, the former had too many plotlines occurring at the same time (with the main detective plot being the blandest throughout the show), and the latter, while fun and a bold move, ultimately didn't feel like a narrative at all. You are right in that when the show finds its balance in its trademark writing, characters, and humor, it's absolutely incredible. Every season, we get glimpses of it- just some more than others. And unfortunately, sometimes it feels like a caricature (Apocalypse). Here's to hoping this season, if anything else, will try something different. The show is too good at failing to achieve a standard it set for itself. 3 points in and ready for more

Like, all of the season post-2016 have really lost their lush, cinematic shots and overall feel. Cult is one of my favorite seasons, and it still kind of suffers from that. Yes they did

Please we had like all witches back last year. As much as I liked Apocalypse that season was just a fan season. It was fun to see almost everyone back and having connexions between seasons but let's not do thins every year. Now I think AHS should be back to bring new genres, characters, plots and themes to the show. And 1984 is clearly taking that road. And it's all fine to me. A slasher season has never been done before in AHS. And it could pretty tense.
monketsharona 79,798
By the way am I the only one to see Frances Conroy in that trailer ? The lady that is asking who escaped from the asylum. The voice and her shape is fitting to Frances in my opinion.
hELXIG 42,903
Tbh I haven't been completely enthralled by this years theme or teasers, but I'm definitely gonna watch this whole season just to see Cody Fern in those short shorts and tight shirts I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. Why do y’all keep quoting me with this as if I didn’t watch apocalypse? I know they were brought back last year. I’d rather them get brought back again than whatever this season is supposed to be. It looks bland. You’re excited for it, cool. I’m not.
