bxr 1,016 Posted August 26, 2019 Share Posted August 26, 2019 Hm, good question … the first two you reference are more ballad-y and the last one is more of a midtempo bop … so (and this list is not comprehensive in the least but…) Janet Jackson -- The Velvet Rope (the entire album is yes, but standout tracks, or singles, are Got Til It's Gone, and I Get Lonely) … also other Janet in general, tbh Waiting to Exhale OST -- Just a collection of prime late 90s R&B from pure legendary (i.e: Exhale (Whitney), Sittin’ Up In My Room (Brandy), Let It Flow (Toni), Not Gon’ Cry (Mary J)) Aaliyah -- probably the entire discography, but One In A Million and Aaliyah are late 90s / early 2000s RnB standards (i.e. One In A Million, If Your Girl Only Knew, Are You That Somebody? (Dr. Dolittle OST), Try Again (Romeo Must Die OST), We Need A Resolution … but even the album cuts are ace) Brownstone -- Grapevyne, If You Love Me Whitney -- The Bodyguard OST (This really should have been the lead on the list, but -- just, this. i.e. I Will Always Love You, Run To You, I Have Nothing, Queen of the Night … and so on) Toni Braxton’s Secrets was really good from what I remember, but I haven’t given it a spin in awhile … Alicia Keys kind of has that vibe, hm … just artists to consider … En Vogue, SWV, Monica, Mya, Mary J … (honestly, this is a really brief list … so don’t take this as like a compendium … it’s missing a lot of artists / songs … but it might be a decent start) Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
