My family never use it but I hear it all the time at the schools I go to for work. I understand it’s a gender neutral term but Spanish is not a gender neutral language. Masculine words are the default in Spanish. Latino, Latina, Latinos. That’s it. You could argue against it but that’s literally how the language is and I haven’t heard people complaining about it before.
