Kamala Harris plunges in new poll, Biden rises

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Joe Biden has expanded his edge over the Democratic field in a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, with 29% of Democratic and Democratic-leaning registered voters saying they back the former vice president.

That's up 7 points compared with a late June CNN survey. No other candidate has made meaningful gains over that time.

The shift returns Biden to a double-digit lead over his nearest competitors, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders at 15% and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren at 14%. Their support is largely unchanged since earlier this summer.

Aside from Biden's increase, the only statistically meaningful change in the candidate standings is a 12-point decline in support for California Sen. Kamala Harris, who stood at 17% support in the June poll but now has the backing of 5% of potential Democratic voters. That's similar to the level of support she had in the spring before a surge following her initial debate performance.

I know I’m gonna end up having to vote for Biden in 2020 but I would really like to vote for Bernie or Liz:saladga:

Happy Harris is fading (her record is just inexcusable), miserable about Biden hanging on. We've still got plenty of time to take him down, though. People won't really start to pay attention until next year, during the last few months before votes are cast.

Looking at the demographics for this primary is so, so depressing. :interestinga:

Biden's support comes almost entirely from elderly people. The vast majority of his supporters are over the age of 60, and only 5% are under the age of 30. Older liberals screwing us over once again. :interestinga:

I guess its heartening that only campaign that has amassed a base of support made up of mostly POC, women and young people (Sanders') is still in second, but I'd feel so much better if he were in the lead.

Biden still hanging on to a double digit lead. Warren moving up.

I think it will come down to Biden and Warren in the end, and that could be the Democratic ticket.

Biden has never won an election before and shouldn't get the nomination now only because he is affiliated with Obama. Gosh, WHY does he has sooo much support? Oh - It's because CNN, CBS and all the other corporate media try to push his agenda and try to sabotage Bernie every time they can. Bernie is the FUTURE and the best solution for America. A lot of people already see it.... but not enough yet and I can't understand WHY. ITS SO FRUSTRATING

She really flopped hard with her policies on some of the most important issues to liberals so I'm not surprised.

Liz is really our best option so I'm happy to see her gaining some traction. Hopefully when the fat is cut and the primaries really get going she can pull support from Sanders' and Biden's people.

She really is the cleanest and most sane candidate we have atm.

Whimsical bitch

Bernie and/or Warren 2020 please!

I agree with PunktheFunk, T*ump will win again if Biden is put up (especially if Biden isn't accompanied by a progressive).
