Cody James 1,525
Agree, but good music is good music. We all love the oldies, so why should we anticipate hating new material if it is similar in concept?

whore 11,447
If the SOPHIE collab actually comes out that would really help innovate pop music in her favor.

HighwayGuy 1,498
I think what matters most is if she can dominate pop/top 40 radio again as a 33 year old woman. If the album is an EDM record with the innovative producers she’s rumoured to be working with (Boys Noise, SOPHIE, Baseck etc) and sounds anything like the HL instrumental then she can make that happen

AmericanxDream 2,049
I think it'll flop tbh. Gaga wasted all the good will she received after the Oscar's: she should've released LG6's lead single in April or May, now it's too late to capitalize on the hype that she had around her given that the Haus Laboratories mess has made the GP turn on her. Now the Shallow lawsuit will be the final nail in the coffin.

bxr 1,016
LG6 feels career-defining in terms of Gaga’s role as a cultural vanguard … Joanne / ASIB, within that capacity, established (or continued, rather) the actionable reality of creative expanse for a (pop) artist — the sheer breadth of genres, avenues, and creative spaces an artist can viably produce work in … namely from the origin point of a commercial pop star. That said, the critical acclaim and commercial success of Joanne / ASIB, the milestone moments attained within conventional barometers of success within the marketplace and industry, elevated Gaga to that role of an industry darling — which, again, is quite remarkable in context of her entire narrative, and the recorded journey that paved the way to this position of prominence (i.e. tisch dropout, sort of urban hippie singer-songwriter, go-go / burlesque dancer, scene / club kid, the fame, the fame monster, preeminent pop star of the digital age, born this way, ARTPOP, cheek to cheek, ahs, Joanne, ASIB … and every iteration in between, as far as music videos, fashion films, live performance, activism, fashion in and of itself, just … there’s a lot that goes into this narrative, that speaks directly to the sheer magnitude of where Gaga is at right now and what she’s facing in the immediate future). To bring it all back to the point though, Gaga’s running anthology feels like a dialogue, a conversation, for the record, with the immediate audience … and, it seems like as the audience shifts, the art work / music goes through different levels of Barthes’ “Death of the Author” … but, fundamentally, Gaga’s records remain the anchor point. So I guess all of that is to say, we know nothing objectively substantial about LG6’s final form, but as far as what it will be or mean or how it will impact or reflect on her career thus far … as a conversation with the audience of her previous albums, herself as an artist, the immediate response to the Joanne / ASIB selves, pop culture, the critics, the fans (from casual to the little monster monarchy) … idk it just feels like she might have a lot she needs to release in terms of where she is as an artist / individual and where we are as pop culture and modern society … I feel like it’s always about energy and how she translates that on the record through music, the tempos and the lyrics and the cadence, and how she is soundtracking or setting the score to give musical identity to the cultural landscape (and the world is in a high-octane space right now) … with Joanne and ASIB, she made it relatively clear she was tapping into elements of her (auto)biography and life, but that (and especially with ASIB) she was creating for a character … and with Joanne, she was creating for the daughter, the sister, etc. Here, it feels like she’s going to be creating for the character of Gaga … the cultural vanguard by way of speaking her truth to established power … which should be intriguing considering she is literally coming off of two projects that established her power within the industry / establishment … I don’t know how it will sound or the nuance of specific genres it will express or how it will perform on the charts, but as far as how it will extend the narrative of her career thus far … feels like she’s just continuing conversation with an expanded audience including the latest versions of her own self. TL; DR: LG6 continues the anthology of conversation with the audience (of fans, culture, GP, critics, herself) from the platform of a pop star … the only box that seems to contain her is that of a zeitgeist performance artist, which is predicated upon how the artist responds or reflects culture itself … That said, feels like Gaga’s going to drop the gavel on the court of modern culture … make some opening statements, rest defenses, and close cases as a supreme pop justice. Spoiler This made more sense before I wrote it out, and in retrospect it’s a bit nonsense, but I’m going to leave it anyway
