Not impressed it's like I've already seen it with all of the trailers + is there any point of this video I don't get it. I feel like there is so much more footage that didn't make it and feel sad about it, shiza was like 20 seconds in the video less than the trailers ...wtf

This screams so much more but Gaga gave us so much less and when I think about the money spend on this and it turned out to be disappointment.

NOT trying to be hater but I was expecting so much more, there wasn't any deep meaning behind it, not dance or any singing and I know this is just an ad but still when you spend so much money on something make the **** better + wtf was this performance she was sleeping all the time and that tattoo it's just too much ....I was really hoping that she'll jump from this bottle and rock the place only how she can.

DON'T hate me this is my opinion, hope ARTPOP slay it still....

It's much more fun to have hizophrenia... u never get lonely

Here is why I dislike it, IMO

This was taken from another thread from member "Famous," with my reply

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow, fabulous explanation of her performance from ATRL, imo:

The sleeping thing is the key to understanding the whole performance art piece. The whole thing was about our obsession with pop stars and idols, so much so that we want to know about EVERY little detail of their lives.

Think back to 2007. People followed Britney around LA for HOURS, as she got gas, went to Starbucks, McDonalds, etc. Everything was photographed and written about and obsessed over. If people could have watched Britney sleep, they would have. She was metaphorically on the biggest stage in the world for that whole year during her breakdown. Everyone watched everything.

So tonight, Gaga put that on a literal stage. People tend to forget that Britney got a tattoo on the back of her head the same night she shaved it. She turned the decay of celebrity, the iconic image of a troubled star shaving her head as a cry for help, into a piece of art... It's literally taking place in a museum, after all.

She doesn't think you're going to be fascinated and thrilled watching her sleep for two hours. She's doing that specifically so you think, why the hell are we so obsessed with our icons that we sit here and watch them sleep?

She knows people are going to think this means she's out of ideas and that her time's up... So she literally put a "15 minutes of fame" countdown clock onstage with her, having already reached its end. She's a step ahead of you. Always.

Amazing. I'm in love.

EDIT: Forgot to add. What's the primary thing most of our idols get their career start because of? Sex appeal. Britney coasted for years on the whole "Not yet a girl, not yet a woman" persona... As the Rolling Stone "The Tragedy of Britney Spears" cover story says, Britney was created as a virgin to be deflowered before our eyes. Everyone felt like they slept with Britney.

So Gaga's piece about the decline of the superstar? She calls it "Sleeping With Gaga," so we all think it's about our collective desire to have s-x with her, and then we're literally just stuck watching her sleep. Brilliant subversion.

And thats about right in terms of what this represented, at least in my own perception.... but the irony is so severe, it is eroding. Meaning, It burns the obsession off of her - this was offputting - I get the symbolism, I get the thought process - but it makes me just shrug my shoulders. Why waste my time following someone who is being filmed taking a nap for four hours, when I could be following another artist who is TRYING to make actual, groundbreaking work?

Scheibe, a nap, peeing in a toillete, and instagramming herself with self portraits isnt that.

Well the point is you sat there and watched it right?

What some forget is that Gaga is a mainstream pop artist. Yes she considers herself an artist and yes like tonight shes going to try and make her statements. But overall shes not Bjork. She's not Roisin Murphy. Her basis for existing in our popular culture in the first place is that shes a pop star that makes fun top 40 music that still adheres commercially for the most part while in its own way trying to not sound like a go along with her contemporaries.

I feel like GaGa still has very clever and genius ideas.... its just her delivery of those ideas are just very hit and miss these days. She used to be so clever with her delivery of her social commentary that made a big dramatic statement.... now she has all these great ideas but the delivery just seems underwhelming, which I feel is the main reasons why so many fans seem let down. I just don't understand why Scheiße couldn't be playing in the background of that commercial.... she knew the fans wanted it and it would have been something fun as well as very thought provoking and mysterious

I still love her a lot.... I just hope she can find that effective delivery of her ideas like she used to

Exactly! she knew we wanted it! even if you google the tv ad ScheiBe comes up, its just a huge disappointment.

and this is what is frustrating, because I couldnt adhere to actually watching the entire thing, after I realized what was going on, I went and watched TV and had dinner (lol), but thats the.... trouble, of the last era especially... is she a pop artist, or a performance artist? The juxtaposition is becoming more and more striking as her career advances, which is part of the point, but to maintain yourself as a "hybrid," you have to be able to balance both. She has not yet mastered that, imo, but Im willing to give her time to decide which one she wants to spearhead, + tackle. But for the time being it is a bit pretentious, which is fine in its own time, but it isnt balanced intellectually ---imo--- sorry for the english, im eating ice cream atm rofl))(

I GOT IT! Just mute the video, pause the video so there's 3 minutes and 45 seconds left, play Scheiße on iTunes, then press play on the video :troll:

..I'm actually gonna do that.

..It didn't make it much better tbh

A short film would at least have a plot. I didn't get it.

Marry the Night was a short film. This perfume video, I don't even know what this is.

... go watch several experimental short films, and then come back here :P

As for the FAME commercial, I gotta say there is a kind of plot... or symbolic, I should say. It's an interesting view from Gaga on the direction she's heading to with ARTPOP. This video is the metaphor of what she's been doing lately: screwing each and every one of her 'Fame Book' rules. Or 'shooting' them, if you get my point... :P

More and more I feel like the only one who liked all the BTW music videos.

I liked the concept of You & I, the waterfall imagery in Judas, and short film Marry The Night.

Edge of Glory was a mess (the fallout of boomkack). Born This Way was just odd (the story was a trip).

it wasn't bad, but i probably won't watch it again.

i didn't understand it/the story line if there was one.

It all just seemed random.

the trailers were more exciting.

i think it was the audio that killed it. it was pretty much a silent film, and i know this was just a perfume thing, but as a musician i thought Gaga would've added something to it.

Okay, even coming from me, a Scheiße stan, let's just forget about the fact the full song wasn't in the video for a second:

The main reason I didn't like the film as it is, is because it was too slow. The trailers showed a fast-paced quick-images-flashing-on-the-screen style that GaGa does pretty often in her videos, and therefore her fans including me, have come to love. This video lacked most of that. I mean there were a few fast parts like where Scheiße played for that 20 seconds, but that was really it. Even the shooting scene was very slow, and although it may have been slow on purpose to be dramatic, it didn't pick up/speed up after that, it just kept being slow. The scene where the single spike rose from the black liquid and multiplied then came at the screen was also COMPLETELY slowed down from one of the trailers, which was a HUGE mistake. It looked amazing all sped up, and they slowed it down for apparently no reason and it screwed it up, a similar mistake GaGa made with the transition from the Mugler remix of Government Hooker to the album version. You're supposed to go from standard to sped up, not sped up to standard (slow).

Another thing, there was a lot of.. black, for extended periods of time. Yet again with the crown rising scene, there was just pitch black for a good 15 seconds or so. Like, why? Speed that crap up. And most of the time I felt like I was squinting my eyes to try to see what was happening/on the screen.

That being said, I mean there was totally some really nice imagery/concepts, but the execution was less than stellar tbh

tl;dr it was still not that great even if you completely disregard Scheiße

Okay just had the chance to watch it. It was pretty much how I expected. It's an artistic film, not a damn music video... It doesn't need to have a straight forward plot. It was very well done.

I loved it Gaga! Just keep doing your thing.
