When I first heard Venus and heard her say “Venus” for the first time on the first verse I though she said... well you can probably guess, but that’s probably the closest to being confused about lyrics I’ve gotten :laughga:

How can she save a part of him if she breaks her heart in two?

She already knows he dies cause she says "if i knew it would be the last time":icega:

Basically she wanted go back in time, Ally never knew Jack died until the police arrived at the house and Ally was informed after her show... so if she had a vision or a sign that Jack was going to die while he was a alive, she would have done everything to save him.

Like do you ever have those moments where you are like "damn wish I did that differently" but its too late cause its already happend? Thats Ally.

If she had a sign telling her that jack was going to die, she'd have 'given half of her heart' to try save Jack from dying

skeleton guns are wedding bells in the attic

skeletons in one’s closet = secrets/hidden things in one’s life

skeleton guns = those hidden things used as weapons against the lyric i

wedding bells = transforming those negative things/obstacles into a musical instrument = voicing one’s agency

in the attic = in the dark (cf. dance in the dark), the dark parts of one’s subconscious/psyche (cf. freudian/jungian psychoanalytic theories)

basically: obstacles to overcome in one’s past, transforming one’s dark narrative

From Genius: The skeleton guns echo the “bedazzlers” she mentions in the video. She used to create her clothes herself in her attic using glue before she was famous.

I think she means that by creating her clothes (as well as her new persona) she found a way to overcome her dark moments, the wedding bells meaning the whole "marriage to the night"  is happening as she creates art/fashion/Lady Gaga

I think she means either 1. as she said many times it's all about turning your trauma into your work of art or 2. She mentions she sometimes acts like a Swine, which means she feels like someone else (or a deeper and darker version of herself) so she's challenging herself or the man to become those dark people again just for the sake of art as she says "be a swine just for the weekend".

maybe in the sequence of “act like a swine,” and into “for the weekend,” “paint your face” is like the masquerade of it, the facade, the “when it rome, just go with the bacchanalia” … and then “catch the beat” kind of echos “maybe i should have a little more, just to stay out of my mind; ‘cause it’s when i’m not thinkin’ with you that i act like a swine …”

Spoiler

*addtl edit: oh, wait … actually “catch the beat” after “paint your face” could actually be swine as drag … which, noted in narrative sequence.

i never really thought about the why on the outro before, at that point it just feels like adrenaline, so just word association on the first take

*edit: basically what @Sneaky Oliver had literally just said
