And I heard this rumour but not sure it was true...

When Tony Bennett was making is Collabs Vol.2  project that starred Gaga in 'Lady Is  A Tramp', he made a song with Amy Whinehouse. She apparently wanted to collaborate with Gaga, and she was down for it... but sadly Amy passed away

Didn’t Michael Jackson at one point want to collaborate with her as well?

Gaga said that she couldn't speak for 48 hours when Amy passed away. She cried in an interview when she talked about her, and she talked about her again in that scene from FF2. She was extremely affected by her death, so it *could* be real; she didn't look THAT devastated when David Bowie passed away, and yet he was her idol

She was supposed to open for him on his tour shortly before he died

Also, @Craig Barnes Michael didn't want to "collaborate" with her per se but he was very impressed seeing the Poker Face video and he wanted her to be one of the opening acts for his This Is It concerts at the O2 Arena in London. He died during rehearsals :ohno:

I don't think so. However, rumor had it that he said that she was the future of pop after hearing Poker Face, but I think it was just a rumor

I would  say Amy was Gaga's idol too and I think she saw a lot of herself in Amy... especially with battling drug and alcohol addiction which led to Amy's death. Maybe they were close privately?

Idk if this is unknown but Gaga wrote Yoü & I in early 2010 and debuted it for fans at the Monster Ball  in June 2010, and nationally on the Today Show  before Born This Way was thought of or even announced

One of her best written songs of all time :tony:

I think You And I debuted at Elton John's birthday party, no?

EDIT: Yeah I found the video.

No it’s artistically meant to be like that since it’s about Def Jam dropping her for her sound, and at the time Def Jam wanted her to make R&B/Hip-Hop music and said her voice was too theatrical so that’s why the song is a synthpop song molded to sound Hip-Hop/R&B with her even rapping a bit and is heavily autotuned. Like how the autotune in SHICD is there to make her purposely monotone

I never noticed the autotune in SHICD:cryga: She used it way too much in Speechless though

Gaga on Larry King in 2010:

"You know, it's always very difficult because I don't necessarily like to talk about those very personal things that happened. I guess I can speak about it now. I was actually asked to open for Michael on his tour. We were going to open for him at the O2. And we were working on making it happen. And I suppose there was some talk about the openers doing some duets with Michael onstage. But Michael's death was devastating for me regardless of whether I was supposed to go on tour with him."

Well Gaga said in the MB video that it was the first time she played it and the first time her band played it...

Oh sh*t you are right, the video I shared is from his party :bradley:  I need to edit my post

@Craig Barnes @Loeppke @KEVIN STEVE

There's also a RedOne interview where he's asked about if Michael ever said anything about Gaga (RedOne worked with Michael shortly before his passing), and RedOne answered: "Michael Jackson loved Poker Face. He said it's written by a genius."

It is possible that this is true but I doubt it because Amy notoriously hated pop stars and pop music in general so I don't think she would have been dying to collab with Gaga, especially back in 2011 when she was the epitome of "pop star." In this video she says "there is no such thing as good pop music" (time stamped) and earlier in the video she shades Madonna, Xtina, Britney, Kylie and Dido, so my guess is she prob wouldn't have been rushing to work with Gaga at that time. My guess is if she were alive today to see Gaga now she would probably love to work with her, but Amy only lived to see TF, TFM, and half of the BTW era back when everyone thought she was just a manufactured blonde pop star.

I just can't imagine MJ working with RedOne :laughga: It could've been a mess
