He now becomes the first Dem candidate to propose a detailed action plan to combat gun violence and white nationalist terrorism.

He's also the only candidate who is using his campaign platform for connecting his supporters to Senators and demanding change for gun violence, and asking them to donate to Moms Demand Action, a grassroots non-profit instead of asking for donations for his own campaign. That's how you set a precedent. Less talk, more action.

No need for Pete's militarism, "leftist Christianity" and not so queer "gay marriage."  (Way to reinforce heteronormativity). Not to mention his lack of appeal for POC.  He just does not resonate for many radicals.   Maybe I am being generic and way too utopian but all I have heard from him (aside from this interesting and accurate post of his latest thoughts) is neo-liberalism.  (Not getting into that on GGD, look it up if you're curious as to why some leftists don't like many of the Dem nominees).  "A Brief History of Neoliberalism" is a great read!

Will get dragged for this post on GGD but so be it. 

(And yes, fellow liberals, I'll vote for him either way if he gets the nomination so we can get rid of 45...ugh...just too bad we can't seem to radicalize across the aisles for the overall betterment of the human condition as opposed to reinforcing the norms.  Climate change, economics and jobs, education and so forth effects us all).

I respectfully disagree. If you think for a second that he is a bible thumper or not gay enough than you must be confusing him with someone else and believe it is year 2080. He barely talks about religion and While it should be acceptable for an uber gay to be president, it requires baby steps.

It's not about fixing everything overnight, it's just about taking the first steps which no one with the power to do so seems to want to do. These policies look like they would be a great step in the right direction.

Look I'm not going to drag you or anything. I know you're a vocal supporter of progressive policies. And I'm glad you say you're going to vote for any nominee, whoever it may be. I just wish you (or any radical for that matter) wouldn't write it off as neoliberalism and would actually dig deep into his (or any other candidates') policies and platforms, research and vet candidates carefully based on what they have to offer and what is greater good for the country.

Good to know that you're not a Bernie or Buster or anything of that radical sorts. That IMHO is a very deeply depressing echo chamber of radicals who are still stuck in 2016 with their irrational stubbornness. I see it on Twitter all the time and it's still happening, and might happen again in 2020 unsurprisingly. I just wish everyone could rationalize what Trump's white nationalism, racism, xenophobia and divisive rhetoric has done to this country and put that in perspective juxtaposed to their own self-interests. There's always a bigger picture, some people just fail to see it because it doesn't affect them the way it does to some PoC, the discriminated and the underprivileged. Again, not pointing fingers at you, only those who still stand by it and try to justify that "candidate matters more over party" and thus end up harming the bigger population in long-term.

For me, neoliberalism is a weak attempt to diminish a mix of 'progressivism and pragmatism'.

That being said, support your candidate all the way through, as everyone should.

Well, it just goes on to show how these bases don't even bother to look at other candidates' platform and pledge their blind allegiance and support to just one. There wasn't even a need to come to this thread and screaming about socialism here and minimizing his candidacy the way they did (still glad in the end they did acknowledge that defeating Trump is more important and I don't blame them since they haven't maybe researched enough), but that's what radicalism is, whether left or right. Trying to prove that you're the most supreme class, having myopic vision and being plagued with narrow mindedness. It's an echo chamber. Thank God, there aren't many such out there and there are more people willing to look beyond their self-interests and broaden their horizons to think about the country too.

Pete isnt my top or even second or third choice for the nomination, but I respect the heck out of him and props for making a proposal and not deferring people immediately to his own campaign
