Why does everyone hate Eh Eh

not a french fry

So yesterday I was listening to The Fame, and Eh Eh came on and I forgot how much I love it. I think it’s really fun and bright. There’s not much to it, but it’s kinda just a good mindless bubble gum pop song (Which is fine!). I like Eh Eh a lot, I’m not saying it’s my favorite song of hers, but I think it deserves better. Every time Eh Eh is brought up here, people always trash it, WHY!? Also not to mention, the critical response to this song was Terrible, WHY!? The critics liked ME! And ME! Is way cheesier than Eh Eh. The video is nothing special but it’s cute, and it gives me HUGE pre Gaga vibes. It’s not a masterpiece but it doesn’t deserve the hate it gets. Am I the only one who likes Eh Eh??

It's one of the best tracks tbh :ladyhaha: It's one of the most blissfully perfect pop songs I've ever heard. Not spectacular but just... right.

Glad to see some love for it :nick: And that mv omg :cryga: So cute and weird, I love it. That **** better be remembered as as discography gem down the road.

And another important question: why does everyone hate Eh, Eh but love Starstruck which is like 100x more mediocre :wtfga: I mean, I enjoy it but...

I don't get why this was a single but other than that it's such a cute and lovely song :nick:

this song is perfection... and the music video is the most Italian thing she's ever done.

her statement of being "very Italian" in 2011 and this image below come in second and third place.

It's a little cheesy and too sugary. I think it has to do with the fact that looking back at it after TFM/ BTW eras it seemed even more cheesy and this is a reason why it got a bad reputation. :huntyga: I've seen many users praising it, though.

I love  Sometimes better honestly.

I think the critical response was terrible because the song has nothing common with the rest of the album, it doesn't fit the concept, neither sonically nor lyrically.

Gaga in 2009 when brainstorming and researching concepts for that MV:

It does though :ladyhaha: I don't get how no one has figured that out yet.

She starts out just dancing on her own in Just Dance, in LoveGame she starts flirting with a guy who gives her a look, in Paparazzi she falls in "love" with the guy referencing her "plastic" nature, in Poker Face she reveals it was all a game to get him hooked (subtle commentary on fame when you understand it in line with Paparazzi), referring back to LoveGame in the very lyrics, and in Eh, Eh she finally dumps him in a blasé "there's nothing else I can say but we had a good time, bye bye now" way, again matching the lyrical theme in LoveGame and Poker Face.

She literally sings "I wish you never looked at me that way" referencing back to LoveGame as that look is what started it all. It started "the game" of love and fame. Fame doesn't last forever. Maybe love doesn't either. Nothing else you can say. It's brilliant and this fanbase is sleeping on it like a bunch of idiots :air: That whole The Fame album intentionally confuses statements about love with glamour and fame to make a statement about their nature(s).

It's no coincidence that after Paper Gangsta all of these references to fame stop and we get a storyline that's just about love. But even that one is consistent with the earlier tracks: I Like It Rough talks of the same kind of love she talks about in Poker Face: "if it's not rough it isn't fun". Meaning: she hasn't learned her lesson. It's a story that goes on and on. And she loves it. That album is a lot deeper than most fans realize.
