Make the same analysis for Kentucky or West Virginia. 

Poverty isn’t necessarily tied to any politician . So no, there is no pattern. 

But if you want to go there, the same could be said about Republicans: The poorest states overall are Republican controlled. See a pattern? 

Blaming everything on X party is a naive and simple way to look at poverty.

I was showing the correlation between violent crime and government failure to provide adequate sanitation. Want another example: look at the homeless epidemic in Democrat-held California, where streets upon streets are covered in syringes and faeces. Everything the Democrats touch turns to filth.

Regarding Appalachia, the poverty there is tied to the rural nature of those states and the gradual loss of income from the closing of the coal mines, and it has been on a steady decline for the last 40 years. Clinton lost in 2016 partly because she declared that rather than trying to reverse the decline she actually wanted to expedite closing them all down!!! So sinisterly out of touch.

And how do you know what any of us us do in real life? I worked on the campaign of a current Democratic House representative in 2018 who got elected in a district that had voted for a Republican for 2 decades. And she won.

Then why do it on a site like GagaDaily where you can’t expand your base/influence? I just don’t understand that part. I’m all for people “discussing” politics on social media but does it not get tiring “discussing” the same thing over and over again, with the exact same people, leading to the exact same arguments? Just to have the thread die out and make a new one the next day? What’s there to enjoy about that.

Actually GGD is great because there are people from all over the world and you can get many different perspectives. Discussions here are much better than Facebook and Twitter where most posts are mindless posts with zero substance.

No one is “deflecting” here, but you. Have you lived in Baltimore? Do you know people who have lived there for years? It is as safe to live there as most big cities in the US. If you are not a gang member involved in gang wars, the likelihood of being murdered is ridiculously low. You are much more likely to die in a car on a trip to Target. 

Big cities with poverty and gangs have crime. That’s the pattern. That has nothing to do with Elijah Cummings being a good representative for his district and it certainly doesn’t mean that there aren’t over half a million human beings of every race and income level that make Baltimore their home and are happy living there.  

Of the top ten poorest and worst run states are red states.
1.  Mississippi
2. New Mexico
3.  Alabama
4.  Louisiana
5.  West Virginia
6.  Kentucky
7.  South Carolina
8.  Arkansas
9.  Georgia
10.  South Carolina

The vast majority are run by republican governors.

I know you are “new” here, but we have lots of other sections for all kinds of discussions and topics. 

You could always skip this section altogether instead of wasting your time.
