Both you and Trump think Cummings’ district is one thing. Neither of you understand that it encompasses a wide cross section of urban, rural, wealthy, middle class, working class people.

Gurl i have compassion for people who don’t have jobs and live in unsafe communities because their congressmen are NEVER there in their own damn electorate and instead are always talk talk talking to the media. And yes i did watch that video. Crocodile tears from a man with a lot of regret, who once upon a time dreamed of helping those in his own community, but who then abandoned his community. Trump has brought down black unemployment to it’s lowest level in 30 damn years. Grow a brain and learn some facts instead of virtue signalling how much more you care than me.

I tried to give you benefit of a doubt, but you lost your temper just like Trump always does and started with personal insults, because deep down you know what this rhetoric means but you love it. “Virtue signaling” and “black unemployment” are like a broken record talking points among conservatives who don’t know **** about history, who pretend to care about antisemitism, but they’ll gladly use the same dehumanizing fascist language against immigrants and minorities.

For your information, Congressman Cummings lives in his district and goes home to it every night, on weekends and during Congressional breaks. He has done so for over two decades. 

Cummings: “Mr. President, I go home to my district daily. Each morning, I wake up, and I go and fight for my neighbors. It is my constitutional duty to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch. But, it is my moral duty to fight for my constituents.”

 

And the unemployment rate for African Americans tells a limited story by itself. What kinds of jobs are these? Are they pushing up median incomes?

“We should never celebrate the fact that black folks are just working,” said Andre M. Perry, an expert at the Brookings Institution. “It’s like saying: ‘Look, you have a job. Why should you complain?’ And I think that’s what Trump is signaling. He’s saying to the black community, ‘Look what I’ve given you,’ and not necessarily saying, ‘Let’s look at the percentage of people in poverty, let’s look at the percentage of people rising to the middle class.’”

“Are black folks getting the kinds of jobs that are propelling them to the middle class? No, they are not,” Perry added. “You still see that gap in the unemployment rate, and you still see that gap in median income.”
