I suppose quite effectively, considering he's strengthening the economy and strengthening the borders to keep out people who disproportionately engage in illegal activities once entering the country (beyond the mind-numbingly  obvious crime of crossing the border illegally) :ohwell:

They are claiming asylum at legal points of entry, they are not entering illegally.

Secondly, available studies show that crime rates are lower among immigrant groups than they are among native-born Americans.

What’s more effective than a wall? New policies.

I don’t think immigrants just want to take pictures of California or Texas. Lol. Here’s where your logic might need a little more critical thinking. Those Gaga concerts are guarded by actual people. $2.5B will build a wall but how much will it cost to have onsite staff to guard 1,933 miles of fence? As our stable genius president has said in the past “if there's a concrete wall in front of you, go through it, go under it, go around it.”

What is this wall going to do for the overseas illegal immigrants? Or the ones who overstay their visas?

Obviously they aren't wanting to just take pictures of California or Texas. It's called an analogy.

Technology can be used to optimise the security of the wall. They already know when people come to cross the border illegally. The difference is that with a wall, people will be discouraged and those who aren't will have be stopped by the wall. When they try to circumvent this, ICE can already be in place. This sounds a lot more attractive than the wild goose chases that currently occur.

The wall deals with one issue, that's not to say that there aren't others :rip:

The current immigration system is trash. What you are describing is not a reality. When you are running as a matter of life or death laws don’t apply.

It’s easy to spew legal talk when you aren’t the desperate one.

What I am describing is reality, based on genuine facts and data... When you are running as a matter of life or death, such a far distance, you can probably make it to a port of entry. A wall will push these people towards ports of entry so they can enter legally.

The abstract talking points being deployed here do not detract from the fact that a wall is a wall and walls work. I think America should be looking after its own before trying to take the entire world into its borders.

Extensive criminological research has shown time and time again that foreign-born people have considerably lower crime rates than do the U.S.-born.

Almost one-quarter of the 44 million people living in the U.S. who were born in another country, or about 10.7 million people, are undocumented immigrants. These are the immigrants Trump wants deported. But he apparently doesn’t know that half of these undocumented immigrants are visa overstayers. They entered the U.S. with legal passports and legal visas but either stayed past their visa expiration dates or otherwise violated the terms of their admission into the U.S., perhaps by accepting employment.

Most flew in legally from Asia, Europe and other continents, and entered at major airports in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Houston and elsewhere. Trump’s wall won’t be high enough to keep them out.

It's genuinely so sad that these people are so desperate. But not everyone can flee to America to escape their own country's problems. There's not enough room and there's not enough money. Instead of taking in so many people, wouldn't it be better through initiatives to change the nature of these countries they're running from? So that anyone can live where they were born in a secure and stable environment.

If a homeless man breaks into your home and asks for help with his situation, you would say no. You would call the police and have him not only removed, but consequently punished for his crime. You would probably be less likely to say no if he rang your doorbell and asked for help.

Despite the desperation of these people, entering the USA illegally is illegal. One does not commit a crime against another to take help. One instead follows the designated procedures (a.k.a. going to a port of entry) and requests help.

At a federal level of convictions, evidence has shown it is non-citizens who disproportionately commit a variety of offences, including drug-based convictions and kidnappings.  This is not a false narrative, this is data (through comparing the percentage of non-citizens in America to the percentage of non-citizens being sentenced within America for these crimes).

Even if all levels of these crimes were to be equal between illegal immigrants and citizens, there is a difference: illegal immigrants already committed a crime by entering, and have already shown a disrespect of the laws for the country they so desperately want to inhabit.

The wall will not only stop illegal immigration, but will encourage legal forms of immigration. It's a win/win situation, and I'm glad the SCOTUS has rules in his favour.

It's funny how you talked about how liberal talking points have led them to reject reality, yet you are the one spewing nonsense. The wall would be a big waste of time, money and would cause a lot of damage to the environment. Not to mention that it would be tied up in courts for years.

Your other claim on how immigrants commit more crime than citizens is a Republican lie. Even this Libertarian think tank funded by the Koch brothers reached the conclusion that illegal immigrants commit less crime than citizens:

"It is difficult to know whether illegal immigrants are more likely to commit crimes than native-born Americans are.  All immigrants have a lower criminal incarceration rate and there are lower crime rates in the neighborhoods where they live, according to the near-unanimous findings of the peer-reviewed evidence.  Since 1911, large nationwide federal immigration commissions have asked whether immigrants are more crime-prone than native-born Americans and each one of them answered no, even when the rest of their reports unjustifiably blamed immigrants for virtually every problem in the United States.  From the 1911 Immigration Commission, also known as the Dillingham Commission, to the 1931 Wickersham Commission, and 1994’s Barbara Jordan Commission, each has reported that immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than native-born Americans."

"Cato scholars have since published numerous Immigration Research and Policy Briefs to shed light on this topic.  Michelangelo Landgrave, a doctoral student in political science at the University of California, Riverside, and I released a paper today that estimates that illegal immigrant incarceration rates are about half those of native-born Americans in 2017.  In the same year, legal immigrant incarceration rates are then again half those of illegal immigrants.  Those results are similar to what Landgrave and I published for the years 2014 and 2016."

"Unlike every other state, Texas keeps track of the immigration statuses of convicted criminals and the crimes that they committed. But even here, illegal immigrant conviction rates are about half those of native-born Americans – without any controls for age, education, ethnicity, or any other characteristic.  The illegal immigrant conviction rates for homicide, larceny, and sex crimes are also below those of native-born Americans.  The criminal conviction rates for legal immigrants are the lowest of all."

"The Texas research is consistent with the finding that crime along the Mexican border is much lower than in the rest of the country, homicide rates in Mexican states bordering the United States are not correlated with homicide rates here, El Paso’s border fence did not lower crime, Texas criminal conviction rates remain low (but not as low) when recidivism is factored in, and that police clearance rates are not lower in states with many illegal immigrants – which means that they don’t escape conviction by leaving the country after committing crimes."

And let's not get started on how more than half of illegal immigration is caused by overstaying visas, something that has been happening for seven years now:

"As the Trump administration demands funding for a border wall to stop illegal immigration, a new study finds that for the seventh consecutive year, visa overstays far exceeded unauthorized border crossings.

The report released Wednesday by the Center for Migration Studies of New York finds that from 2016-2017, people who overstayed their visas accounted for 62 percent of the newly undocumented, while 38 percent had crossed a border illegally.

"It is clear from our research that persons who overstay their visas add to the US undocumented population at a higher rate than border crossers. This is not a blip, but a trend which has become the norm," said Donald Kerwin, CMS' executive director, in a statement. "As these numbers indicate, construction of hundreds of more miles of border wall would not address the challenge of irregular migration into our country, far from it."

The study also finds that the undocumented population from Mexico fell by almost 400,000 people in 2017 and that since 2010, the number of undocumented from that country fell by 1.3 million."

What's more effective than a wall? I don't get this. If you want to stop people entering illegally, you build a wall.

How did Taylor Swift keep the paparazzi from taking photos of her house? Putting a polite sign on her front garden? No. She built a wall.

If you've paid for a ticket to see Lady Gaga, would you feel comfortable if people who hadn't paid or been invited entered to see that same concert? No. How do venues make sure that only people who paid get in? Walls. Fences. Ticket gates.

I simply don't understand how liberal talking points have led to the complete rejection of genuinely physical reality.  A wall is a wall.

Build the wall

If by wall you mean the patchy bollards he's calling a wall... :ladyhaha:despite the presence of a thorny fence. :ladyhaha:you delulus believe everything this cheeto utters

Sis, what you said was NOT an analogy. Lol. These people are looking for a decent place to live the rest of their lives, not trying to peek in and take a snapshot of a celebrity.

Oh that sounds pretty cool. Who is developing said technology? Has this administration confirmed that this is how the wall will be monitored? How effective is it? Is it going to take more money away from our beloved military? Feel free to post some articles that support your claim because I haven’t come across any sources that confirm the existence of such a security system.

Lol. Very well. You’re right, “Taylor Swifts fence is to wall, as 1,933 mile border wall is to wall” is an analogy. Im used to them not being so direct.

Since you’re posting links, do you mind posting the ones about the incredible security system you described earlier?
