Predictable. This movie is gonna break records but no one is here for anything else. Everyone knows the official soundtrack is bullsh-t (I guarantee you 100x as many people are just listening to the 1994 one) and no one cares about an original inspired by the movie work, not even by Beyoncé :smh: No one wants to care that much about a children's movie.

Disney got what they wanted. At least we got an album gem out of it, 'cause the album is actually really ****ing good.

Here's hoping she gets it back together with a new album :air:

Wow, she performed at the lower end of the sales prediction, barely scraping the start of the prediction, surely a first for her. The rumours about her selling 949 copies in the UK must also be true as I couldn't find the album on our soundtrack or compilation chart today (it was confirmed that the album wouldn't constitute for the main top 100 chart as it's a compilation, so I checked both sections to be sure). It sold so badly that it couldn't reach the top 100 of a specified genre chart, against albums that were a year old or more. This is bad, real bad. This needs to be a wake up call to Beyonce that she is no longer above promotion. At this stage, promo is vital, as is putting out one or more singles pre-album, releasing album name, cover and tracklist in advance and just generally doing a standard album roll-out. Her glory days of name recognition alone to sell were fun but now playtime's over and she's going to have to get used to the pitfalls of being an older artist, just like everyone else. If you play the mysterious card for too long, people will think you're conceited. If you don't make people care, they won't care.

Good point :applause:

However, if she promoted it too much it would backfire too 'cause it would make her look like she was trying to own or even surpass The Lion King itself :emma:

Let's be honest here, it was a dumb af project (strategically) that was never able to do well commercially, and her role as Nala does nothing for her career except make her millions. She should've just stayed out of it and focused on a new album, she sure could've used most of the songs from The Gift and they would've reached a much larger audience that way.

The problem is Disney IMO. They only care about selling tickets at the expense of creativity and originality. Ryan Coogler's Black Panther was an exception and I think Bey thought the same magic could be recreated, and boy was she wrong. TLK is a massive IP for Disney, like Star Wars, and they wouldn't take any creative risks even if it means remaking the same old songs and score, recycling the same exact scenes hoping to recreate that magic. The Gift had a concept that could work and make the remake relevant instead of a nostalgic cash grab.

For this reason alone Gaga needs to stay away from Disney especially if music is involved

I agree 100% except if there's original music involved in the movie itself or maybe a cover of an iconic song :oprah: If Bey covered Circle of Life or something we'd be talking about a completely different thing and she probably would've made an iconic version of it.

If Gaga can work on a movie with original songs I think she'll slay unproblematically, à la La La Land, Greatest Showman and ASIB. But yeah... when you're talking about a movie with several iconic songs like Lion King it's best to stay as far away as possible :rip:

At least we got an epic album out of it :vegas: Call me delusional but I think the album will be much more appreciated down the road.

Well it does show noone is untouchable. But it's not like #3 position is the biggrst flop of the century. It is also a pretty solid work, nowhere close to horrible.

But then again, it did like half of Madame X, so maybe that isn't such a massive commercial flop after all all for someone like fourty years into the business...

It really puts into perspective how much of a smash ASIB was.

But that was because of Bradley Cooper :deadbanana:

It's an honor.

It’s what her dumb stans deserve but I didn’t actually mind the album.

Lemonade, EIL & Spirit are some of her best music ever. Far better than her pop eras. I’m hoping she doesn’t cave and keeps making good music that I like.

Also, Rihanna and Gaga are our last hope for female pop stars with individuality now and they should take notes if BEYONCÉ is flopping on a highly promoted anticipated movie known for it’s original soundtrack back in the 90s, Rih’s reggae album seems doomed now and unless Gaga is making some hot club/trap sh*t she’s also doomed

She should be happy that The Lion King is a blockbuster with huge promo. Because without it, it would be 20k at the most

Her stans have that even though I’m sure 90% of people did not go to see the film because of Beyoncé and literally any actress could have voiced her character.  I don’t know why she was in the center of the cast photograph when she isn’t top billing in the movie.

you know it’s not a soundtrack to the film right? it’s songs inspired by the film, not the same thing

Why make a soundtrack to the film and also be a part of it and not have the songs tell the story of the film. I have heard plenty of other sountracks where the songs petfectly matched the movie, like the style of music and the lyrics as well. Im just being picky because I know some good songwriting would have made the soundtrack better.  My opinion.

Edit: nvm. This was a long post about negativity and how sad it is that the comments on this thread go completely against what Gaga stands for, but I guess it's funny that some of y'alls toxicity is makes other fans feel alienated. I won't waste my time anymore.

Felonies? Loves it.

The music was not good and didn't relate to the movie at all. Besides the original songs by Elton John are far superior and iconic.
