No Plus Size Models In Haus Labs Ads?

Not everyone has to be represented in everything. I didn't see any old people in that ad. Does that make Gaga ageist?

I find body positivity to be a difficult topic when it comes to obesity. I know a certain share of plus size people suffer from diseases which make them put on weight out of proportion and they have to be made feel welcome - it is obvious.

However, on the other hand America struggles with obesity as a choice stemming from high consumption (which is not ethical - see environment and farm animals, etc.) So including obese models could send a message that it is okay to choose to look like this and buy so much food, even though people are starving in many places of the World.

its just a challenge how can we promote kindness towards people who are obese but cannot change that and at the same time encourage people who are obese by choice to cut their consumption?

That’s why probably for a makeup line it is better to focus on faces as many people said in this thread. I am aware that what I said in my post could appear hurtful by people who struggle with additional kilograms which are out of their control and I am sorry for it in advance. It’s just that dry facts are conflicting in this case.

I mean if you speak out against this, it says a lot. A simple idea of wanting more representation isn’t bad...

I don't think people here really "speak out against" representation, they rather speak against the fact a debate/ polemic gonna be launched each time one minority is not represented in one advert.

I see people asking "but if it was an advert with no LGBT people..." but us LGBT folks see countless adverts showing only straight couples, gender_conforming people etc and we don't jump on each one to say it's a missed opportunity of representing LGBT folks.

Looking for a lack of one type of representation in an advert that clearly includes way more representation than nearly all of the adverts you'll see quite come across as looking for a flaw and even if it's not done in a "denouncing way" lol. ;)

I like how some here write it off as “it’s not that deep”

But when someone says something similar about her music it’s like “how dare you? You do realize she was about to quit music at the time but it was because of that album that saved her!”

People here like to pick and chose battles. Everything about the line is just basic, it’s no different than any other ad from a high fashion make up brand. So it’s not really unique, it’s a good ad but I thought she was gonna do something different. I’m sure all those models have been in some. If it didn’t have Lady Gaga in it, then no one would care. The words just feel empty when you hear her talk about loving and embracing yourself but we see gorgeous people onscreen. The rotating shot, everyone basically looked the same size. People were saying that her make up brand would change the industry and make an impact and that’s why people are voicing their opinions because to me it kinda falls flat. The way they marketed and treated this launch it looks like any other make up brand. Don’t say it’s because it’s a start up and they don’t have the backing of a major corporation, she is well connected in the fashion and beauty industry, it could be done.

She would totally changed the game if fat and old people appeared in the ad. Would have more press and relevance because make up is for everyone and she would be really putting that in evidence with the choice of people in the promo. I loved it and it's really good she even choose non binary models but yeah, they are all extremelly thin. If make up doesn't have size, you can't really see it because in this promo it has and it is skinny models wearing make up. Nothing new like Fenty did for example.

I don't hate fat people, but I don't understand why media is trying so hard to 'include' fat people. We get it, you're fat, move on. People are more concerned about fat people, than people struggling with mental health issues.

What is wrong with you? Why would you even write something like this?

Gaga would be embarrassed to have you as a fan.

The focus is clearly on gender and self expression and it's hard enough to find non binary models. They wanted to show the makeup on androgynous faces. The body has nothing to do with makeup cause you don't wear makeup on the body. I'm 100% sure that if Gaga will ever make a clothing line, she'l include different body types.

It's ridicolous that i even have to explain it to you. :triggered::saladga:

I agree... but yes, thanks to Kim K, people are now wearing make up on their bodies... she has a full body make up line out:messga:

But I agree with everything you said

I feel like the fact that theres a checklist for diversity that must be featured in ads now in order to come across progressive, is more problematic than people realize. Some peoples mindsets these days is a little too corny for my taste but i mean whatever honestly.

The campaign seems to be focused on gender and sexuality, which are two areas that have been important to Gaga throughout her career, so it makes sense for them to include them. While more diversity is always a plus, it seems a little disingenuous just to throw plus sized models in there if they’re not actually adding anything new.
