The deal with Rainbow was that Kesha was allowed to make wtv music she wants but profits have to be shared with Luke since their contract is still not nullified . In my understanding, while we can get these digital/streaming copies of films or music, the general public doesn't own that license (say iTunes does) to stream or whatever. If you have a hard copy or downloaded to your computer, you've got it forever. Also, I'm probably just old school but I still make mix CDs for friends and like purchasing music to support the artist (though I know most of their profits come from touring).
