FfFfFfFF 55,929
All these artists fighting for NUMBERS when Peppa Pig is being an unproblematic queen. Deserved the #1.

The Louvre 3,423
When I was in Berlin I saw a big mural with his album art and saying Ed Sheeran: the New Album or something like that. I hate it when people blatantly lie like this. I have seriously ZERO respect for this guy. It's said the map of the world is on you. The moon gravitates around you. The seasons escape you. StrawberryBlond 14,862
Promo's about a lot more than just live performances and he has promoted this album in various ways that don't involve live performances. These days, promo isn't what it once was anyway, most artists just focus on getting good streaming numbers. Because of on air/on sale, there's no sense of "we need to do all this promo just before/just after the song gets officially released to make it chart well that week" like back in the day. People download/stream a song whenever they want now, so charting weeks aren't that huge anymore, it's more gradual and spread out so going on a major promo trail prior to album release isn't really done anymore. When you're a big name like Ed, you don't need promo and when you have a huge name like Bieber on your track, you definitely shouldn't need promo, that should sell itself. And considering how it went #1 in the UK for 8 straight weeks and the album was available for sale everywhere in very prominent locations like the front doors and checkouts (it was even for sale in Boots - since when did Boots start selling music again? Is this the 90's?), I'd be shocked if people didn't know about this album. Sure, the whole thing has felt very lowkey and even though I Don't Care was clearly such a big British hit, I've never heard that song once in passing nor do I feel like that song or the era is big. Beautiful People just went #1 here and it's the same story. Being such a big name, he should have sold much more, all things considered. Divide sold 672k in its first week in the UK and has sold over 3.3 million copies here to date. And that was just over 2 years ago. To go from that to 125k in the first week, collab album or not, promo or not, is more than a bit of a disappointment, so using the "no promo" thing is hardly worth a brag. 9 hours ago, ThisGuyTony said: Being in every Spotify playlist is not promo? Having 22 collaborations is not promo? Having music videos is not promo? Having the #1 pop radio song is not promo? Congrats on that 170k first week and 7th biggest debut of the year I guess. Not only that, he's currently still on his sell-out tour (on which he's likely performing some of this new material), he opened for The Rolling Stones for an exclusive date in Kansas City last month and he's also put out a Heinz Ketchup ad (which he admitted he literally begged Heinz to do) last month. I can't understand how recently he's been saying things regarding not being about the money and then he begs one of the world's biggest, most iconic companies to do an ad with them. Ever since he majorly hit the big time, fame went right to his head and he's wanted to have his cake and eat it too.
