Electro pop is a super dated sound, while dance pop continually evolves over the years and never truly goes away. I can’t see electropop ever coming back unless it’s purposefully throwback. Have you ever heard of the 20 year pop culture cycle? I can see that music coming back in about another 10 more years.

Really interesting read on this, thanks

also there are song genres that never made a full comeback yet like 60s doo wop n stuff... so it could also be the end of everything.

Well technically, doo-wop did come back with artists like Meghan Trainer, though other artists didn't jump on the bandwagon so it didn't last long. But it very well could have had a revival, but even Meghan herself abandoned it by the time her second album came out

Idk, but I hope it makes a return. Honestly I realized last year I don’t even like pop music - just electropop. Pop from other decades just doesn’t interest me. Only stuff from like 2007-2013. Outside of that I’m more into alternative/rock/folk.

Omg Guys!

give a try at 90’s pop.

Try, Army of Lovers the “Les Greatest hits” album.

every huge female pop star took something big or small from them..

90’s are the best at the (euro) pop world by far..

Like a lot of other people, I loved almost every song from 2008-2013 in the mainstream, then since the ARTPOP era ended music has kinda sucked mostly in terms of top 10 hits.

I totally agree. Also I can just tell if a song is from before or after 2013 tbh.

Can we call that mainstream if it was just one artist? And for like 1 year? Yeah it was popular but not as relevant as the others. More like a throwback hit. Just like NO...

Well probably another 20-30 years after 2008. It happened to rap and 80s music. In fact 2008-13 was basically a rehash of the latter w a new twist... and so is this new wave of hip hop. Electropop as we know it now isn’t coming back... not without a twist at least

EDIT: also there are song genres that never made a full comeback yet like 60s doo wop n stuff... so it could also be the end of everything.

But forget the mainstream. Indie artists keep everything alive. Love them more.

I agree, everything has a comeback. Remember that 80's music had a brief comeback in 2013-2015.

Stop listening to popular music, maybe?

This is not electropop lmao, this basic radio generic pop you hear everywhere in 2019. For example, Sweetener by Ariana Grande is pretty electro-popish but you guys hate It, so decide what you actually want lmao

The sound that you posted in the OP, never.

But some sort of electronic genre might get mainstream again and be labeled as electropop.
