Bernie's campaign workers have a problem

You clearly didn't even attempt to search about her first before making this ignorant and stupid remark.

That "Goldman Sachs" executive's name is Sonal Shah, an enormously accomplished woman of color who has spent her life advancing progressive causes

Firstly, she was never a Goldman Sachs "executive." She was a vice president. While that title sounds extremely high, in finance, "vice president" is an outdated title that signifies people who are authorized to sign documents on behalf of the company. The nice person who signed your mortgage is a vice president. The position isn't given it to everybody though, just responsible qualified people.

Secondly, her work at Goldman Sachs was extremely progressive. To quote the Pete campaign, "She developed and managed Goldman Sachs’ environmental strategy. She trained bankers to ask environmental questions, managed the grants to non-profits, and worked with their real estate team on how to build more green buildings."

Whether you like Goldman Sachs or not, she did work to help the environment. Her ties to the company are like Pete's ties to McKinsey during his grocery pricing work. It's one line on her resume, from 2004 to 2007.

After Goldman, she became an executive at Google, working in its philanthropic arm, becoming the head of Global Development Initiatives, helping develop socially beneficial investment schemes for the company, helping the global poor.

Then she worked in policy development for the Obama administration, as the deputy assistant to the president and director of the White House Office of Social Innovation. She now works as a professor at Georgetown, where she's the executive director of the Beeck Center for Social Impact and Innovation. Her life has been dedicated to using technology and business to benefit society.

In short, she's a badass woman of color who has broken glass ceilings in the finance and business world, is highly qualified, and has a range of experiences in helping push for progressive policies. Reducing her to one of her employers, with no thought to the work she's done is reductionist and awful.

Had she joined Bernie's campaign, y'all would have praised the campaigns to highest heavens for recruiting a woman of color. But when it comes to other campaigns, and doing poor research, you reduce her to an executive from an "evil company". I have to laugh, but the hypocrisy is shockingly real.

Stop with the whataboutism. It's ridiculous.

 

1. I now know why somebody emphasized “her.” I didn’t realize I typed “him.” in error. 

2. Anybody in finance at a Vice President level is considered an executive. Let’s not argue about splitting hairs. 

3. Since your comment, I’ve tried to find more specifics about this person & havent found anything more than what’s on her Wiki page. 

 

What i I will say is that Trump has a lot of people from Goldman within his administration & hearing that Pete has one too immediately triggers my buttons. But this appointment as well as other decisions by Pete and Co. make me very suspicious because he’s running a campaign eerily similar to Obama and Clinton. Both of these people have disappointed the progressive wing of the party. What I will say on a positive stance is that now he has a policy director, I’m interested in seeing more policy specifics from Pete because what he’s provided so far are more along the centrists of the party.

Is this total minimum wage thing blown out of proportion! Bernie proposed it and maybe he should stick to it! And by the way analyse, study and make an informed decision about who your candidate is! Nobody has the right to judge anyone else's choice, it comes down to aligning views and values in any side of the aisle! 

Well except if you vote for trump I can't associate with a racist misogynistic bully who grabs woman by their lady part and mocks the disabled!
