It’s actually more common that the movie studio brings a Beyoncé type stat in because a song from her will generate attention to the film and is a fairly inexpensive way to do so for the assured benefits associated. So it’s less Beyoncé demanding a song and more the studio usually specifically stipulating that the talent will release a song even if it isn’t in the movie (hence why it’s usually in the credits). Like the cover of beauty and the beast that has been celebrity studded in the credits from both movies. It’s not the artist approaching the studio but the other way around because releasing those songs doesn’t spoil the movie BUT it does give promo still.

True. Good point.

When I first heard the song i thought it was pretty boring- but I think the video gives it more meaning and makes the song a little better IMO.

Definitely agreed. It doesn’t suddenly make it amazing but it does make it not as boring hahaha

Even a crappy song like this has a great video. Yeah it's boring but the song is boring too. Still the video is dripping with quality.

when will you grow up you racist weirdo

simply celebrating african culture with a film set in africa shouldn't be considered 'political commentary'

I am grown up, as shown by my intelligent reasoning that you're conveniently ignoring. And I'm not racist, I was defending people's right to be proud of their race, if you'd bothered properly diving into what I said. I even talked about race empowerment anthems I liked. Naturally, you missed out that part because it doesn't fit in with your incorrect view of me that you've convinced yourself is true.

My only critique is that celebrating African culture in a CGI animal movie is hardly necessary. It should be done in a film starring humans set in real life Africa that's about race. That's the exact opposite of racism, so I don't get what you're complaining about. And it is political commentary when you want to bring up a racial conversation in a movie that has nothing to do with race and doesn't even have humans in it. Although "social commentary" would have been a better phrase, admittedly.

This is bringing me back to 2016 with all of the complaints she had with Bey then. :bye:

I still do have complaints about her. But it's all to do with her character, choices and the quality of her music, never race, no matter how people want to twist things to smear my name.

I am neither of these things. I have a university degree and I really don't like people telling me I'm uneducated when I always make sure to research anything before I speak on it. Just because you don't agree with my opinion doesn't mean I'm uneducated. You really need to learn better manners. What a rude thing to say to someone you've never even spoken to before and don't know.

I'm a woman, but thanks. I'm glad someone is actually reading what I'm saying and therefore doesn't make themselves look foolish by calling me a racist when my post showed the exact opposite.I

I was thinking more along the lines of "if this is supposed to be a video about black women accepting their natural beauty, why have they dyed their hair a colour that they can't naturally have?" I don't understand many elements of this so-called black empowerment movement when they make contradictory moves like this. Though I will say that at least Beyonce isn't blonde anymore. I don't get how she could be all about standing up for the look of a natural black woman while sporting unnatural dyed blonde (usually straightened) hair and just let her dancers be natural.

Do you have any idea how offensive this sounds? “if it’s supposed to be video about accepting natural beauty, why do women  wear makeup or nice clothes?” that’s how silly you sound.

First of all, black people CAN have naturally red hair. Even if it’s more rare, so what; gingers are not that common in white populations either. Now you’ll go to explain, “but they have to be biracial or have some european ancestry blah blah”, you’re not a scientist or expert on African DNA so maybe calm down with these theories and let them be. And “so called black empowerment” really sounds you have no racial prejudice, not at all...

It's not easy love, but you've got friends you can trust

I have to laugh. I literally have to laugh.

Dyeing your hair does not make you any less accepting of your natural features. That’s like saying people who wear makeup don’t love their natural features. Gaga has a whole song about loving yourself and now has a makeup line, does that invalidate the way she feels about herself? No.

It’s just a hair color.

Im going to learn to stop reading your replies cause it’s clear that you only say this stuff to get a reaction out of people.

It's not offensive, it's a logical question that apparently you can't ask when it involves non-whites. And actually, yes, the question about how can it be about accepting natural beauty if you're wearing make up is valid because make up is unnatural, man made stuff that your face cannot replicate. You can't wear make up will claiming to support natural beauty, it's just common sense. Sure, you can support both, but don't say it with a face of make up.

We've been over and over this "black people can have natural red hair argument." I'm not talking about those rare instances, I'm talking about the specific women in this video. They don't have that hair colour naturally, they dyed it, considering they all have exactly the same shade and it's not even a particularly natural shade at that. So, when I say it's a colour they can't naturally have I was talking about them specifically. And you don't have to an expert to have an opinion that's based on fact and science that came from the experts. And I said "so-called black empowerment" in a sardonic way, but you clearly missed that. I meant that if you're going to do black empowerment, which you have every right to do, do it correctly. Don't say you're all about black empowerment while bleaching your skin, wearing blue contact lenses and a blonde weave with a nose job. Minus the contact lenses (and hopefully the skin bleaching), Beyonce has done all these things. She actually sang about loving her "negro nose" in Formation despite having a nose job when she said it. And loving her "baby hair with baby hair and afros" despite having her hair blonde and straightened out for years. It's like, don't claim one thing while doing the opposite. I find it hard to take Beyonce's empowerment stance seriously when she does this.

Changing your appearance in any way shows that you're rejecting it, even if it's just temporary. You can like make up and still love your natural features but it doesn't exactly work to say that while coated in make up, does it?

I find it funny how you've twisted that last bit around. Usually, you don't reply to me when I quote you and you stop quoting me (as you did earlier on) when I start hitting my stride and showing you that you had the wrong idea about me. There's select people here who deliberately set out to get a reaction out of me and if anything, I'm the one that should be trying to ignore it. But I guess caring too much about what people think of me is my downfall and I can't abide false information being spread about me. Just try to imagine how it must feel to be cited as a racist when you're not and how that affects your reputation.

And you sound dumb and uneducated to use race as a line of reasoning lmao.

You have your rights and we all know that. But people has also the right to hate beyonce. Is that too hard to digest? Because i think not.

And to use  racism as defense mechanism to everything against your will is not racism anymore and that is already an abuse of rights.

If there is something bad, it's bad. And it doesn't mean it is under your race it is good even if it is acutually that bad.
