Dumbest comment ever, you aren't the brightest are you? We are all forced to participate in capitalism, having a laptop and mobile device is required in this world, like it or not. Gaga debuting her makeup and asking everyone to preorder it via Amazon on a day Amazon workers are asking for solidarity in their strike, is gross. Capitalism is gross because money is more important than people.

As far as my phone and laptop, they are provided by my work and I work for a non profit that provides services to adults with developmental disabilities, so I'm doing what I can as far as your idiotic comment goes.

Gaga did NOT have to use Amazon, and I don't buy the whole "complete creative control" argument for being there. It took complete creative control for that basic packaging? Please. It's all about money here and her whole message doesn't even make sense. "Love yourself! But cover yourself up and change how you look with my makeup line, cause you were born that way, only a bit uglier!"

Yeah I’m not buying your anger. At all. I think you’re only mad that Gaga came up with this genius idea.

See unlike her record label Interscope, who juggle Gaga along with BLACKPINK, Kendrick, Lana, Billie Eilish and dozens of other new and established artists, flooding the market, forcing artists to compete, and as we’ve seen treating Gaga like second class, not investing in her and not allowing her creative control, with Amazon she is their one and only exclusive make up line.

And that relationship is priceless. Her vision won’t be obscured. It’s what every artist strives for. And she’s done it, and made it possible for all of us.

I mean it's hardly genius and she probably didn't come up with the idea anyway, just agreed to and went along with it. I'm also not mad at Gaga, I'm annoyed at the idiot posting basically "how can you critique capitalism, you use technology!" as if that is a valid point.

Also what does her music career and Interscope have to do with this? Your whole comment makes little sense. Interscope treats her like a second tier artist, so she has to put makeup on Amazon? What?! Share your drugs I wanna vacation.

YES! If you want to change things, this is super important. Vote locally, state wide and nationally!

Also...

https://www.theverge.com/2019/7/14/20692187/amazon-strike-protest-workers-warehouse-employees-conditions-prime-day-2019

"Crucially (and perhaps surprisingly), none of the striking workers have called on shoppers to boycott Prime Day sales. There’s no official guidance on how shoppers should support the strike, and many of the striking workers who talked to The Verge were ambivalent on the question. In some sense, it’s beside the point. The strike is meant to show that the success of Prime Day depends on warehouse workers — but that message is more about fulfillment queues than sales numbers. Solidarity is always welcome in a strike, but it’s hard to draw a clear, straight line from the workers’ demands to the Buy button."

Precisely. A true artist does not let someone else define their abilities or their happiness. Rather than abandoning her music career (which I’m sure many overpaid “experts” at Interscope were wishing) she instead found another channel of passion where she could have complete artistic control AND make a profit AND prove her cynics wrong.

If you don’t like how you’re being treated by your partner, you don’t have to break up with them. There are other, more exciting ways you can reclaim your sense of self.

Blanket statements like 'Capitalism is gross' are overreaching.   Capitalism has it's problems including wage inequality and worker exploitation for sure, but lets not pretend those sames things don't exist in non-capitalist systems.  People in power always find ways to exploit those who are not, and that needs to be dealt with.   However, capitalism also has lead to innovation, higher standards of living, and  greater freedom for many to choose what they want to do with their lives.   As with all things, it's about finding a balance.

Eh, I disagree. Watch John Oliver's video on warehouses. He goes in on Amazon and what their employees face.

I work in retail at a managerial level and I can tell you a good pay and bathroom breaks every four hours does not make a good workplace :laughga: but at least I haven't been bear maced by a robot :spin:

Yeah I've watched and as a retail manager I have fallen down the stairs in a messy warehouse that was complained about to the GM many times. The only thing of that John Oliver video that should be looked at is employees should have specific sections when pulling items and not have to walk the entire warehouse.  Other than that EXPOlogitics should be out of business.

Fun to see a successful pre-order launch. Like the fun videos we are getting with it. HL probably don't even have product made, let alone stocked in any warehouse yet, just a guess.

I almost hate to start posting about the strike, but ...  Workers are at will. They can quit any second they choose to and get a different job somewhere else. ( I have had jobs I hated and didn't work for even a month. )  Osha is responsible for inspecting workplaces and issuing fines if they are unsafe. All serious injuries must be reported to Osha (hospital, amputation or death).  Unions and strikes are the workers way of negotiating with large companies.  Walking out in a large group is meant to bring issues to the attention of management in a way that had not been presented before. The obvious inference is that if they walk out for a day, they may quit forever and the company may not be able to hire replacements. Workers can also sue employers over things like known unsafe working conditions. Lawsuits have also been as effective if not more effective than strikes.

I think it's rather shytty to do the strike on prime day when Amazon is offering its big discounts to customers. They could have striked the days before or after the sale and not cause the GP to feel bad about getting a discount. If the workers wanted the public on their side, they wouldn't have done it on prime day, that's a big fu to customers.

Please explain what is artistic or creative about this? She isn't putting makeup out there to express herself, she didn't create this, her name is on it. I stan a music artist, a performance artist, thats all I care about. Also if your partner treats you like crap, yes you should break up with them. She isn't proving anyone wrong, in fact she is reinforcing the idea that she has lost the creative wild fun artistic part of herself that made the world fall in love with her, and has become what she said time and again she hates.

Anyways I guess the proof is in the pudding and we'll all find out this fall how the products do. Thankfully some other artists still make groundbreaking music and videos and have something important to say, so I'll be fine this summer waiting for LG6, just hope it comes soon and we can move on past these weird side ventures.
