Redstreak 6,653
Has she even mentioned a third album at this point? What's the chances of her releasing another single from Electra Heart? MonsterVSAnimal 0
Marina has a better range, and Lana does sound vacuous sometimes when singing. I love both, but I just think marina is better imo. Lana could be better with meaning & lyrics and song writing, but Marina has the whole package. trailmix 11
No. I'm tired of being silenced for slamming her. Someone has to. Has she even mentioned a third album at this point? What's the chances of her releasing another single from Electra Heart? I always wanted a Valley Of The Dolls video, but I doubt she'd ever release that :noparty:

misanthrope 15
Seriously! I've said worse things about Nicki Minaj yet the only warning points i've ever gotten in relation to talking **** about an artist have been in regards to Lana. This forum is so ****ing biased! You're allowed to slam Nicki Minaj to hell but god forbid someone have something negative to say about Lana. No, shes an artist. How could I possibly not understand her refreshing brilliance. Tommymonster44 0
Im not going to argue with anyone anymore who likes lana. In my opinion if you cant comprehend why shes ingenuine and completely devoid of substance than we have nothing to discuss because you view her from an obviously limited musical perspective. I don't care which musicians you like, but I find it uncalled for that you accuse people of having a "limited musical perspective" just because they enjoy a certain artist. FYI, I'm a classically trained pianist. I'm sure there are people here that have never read a note. Musical training and perspective don't have any importance. Music is made for everyone. "obviously limited musical perspective" You're right, my musical perspective that incorporates Schoenberg, Alban Berg, Sondheim, Coltrane, and other classics is "obviously limited." Because clearly I only listen to Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry. Yes, I know nothing of the world of music. *.* Like I said, I have my issues with her and I actually agree with you in the sense that she's got this faux-intellectual hipster thing going on which I don't like. Doesn't stop me from loving "Video Games." However, this IS the Marina and the Diamonds thread, so I'm just going to talk about how "Home-wrecker" is totally the best song on the album. Seriously, she hit it out of the park with this one. Everything just comes together so well. The spoken verses, the thickness of her voice when she's singing, those harmonies (if there isn't a fourth or a fifth hidden somewhere in there, I will punch a baby)... I love Primadonna as well, but I can listen to Homewrecker on repeat for an hour and not get tired. I love her upbeat songs more than stuff like "Starring Role" and "Lies." I could see it (Homewrecker) being a risky single from a more well-known artist.

Doesn't stop me from loving "Video Games." I personally like Burning Desire and Radio. I'm just tired of people treating her existence in popular culture as if shes bringing something genuinely new or worthy of acclaim to the table. I can appreciate her from a purely superficial perspective but I don't respect her at all. When people come at me for not respecting her as an artist I get annoyed.
