Diane Warren on whether Gaga co wrote "Til It Happens To You"

Yeah but also like Diane Warren is a songwriter. I don’t think Gaga, out of respect, would change much to the song. Which is why Diane gave the answer that she gave. Gaga just took the song as it is.🤷🏻‍♂️

Also, considering the demo sent to Linda Perry was originally sung by Diane Warren, the song was probably completely different melodically speaking. So, not only she wrote a lyric, she also made it her own style, and because of that, she deserves writing credits.  

Also, Ru and the other girl are miserable for trying to create drama over a solved issue that happened years ago. 

Linda's done this sh*t with multiple other musicians and Michelle is constantly being passive aggressive so I'm not shocked with them tbh (tho Linda hasn't said anything about it since five years ago). I think part of it is that the way of crediting has changed (there was a good article on it in Rolling Stone several years ago) and now samples, changing one line, a few arrangements, etc. does require giving credit—and more old school producers/singers/etc. don't care for it.

I'm actually a bit more annoyed that little monstrosities are acting like Gaga somehow forced Diane F*cking Warren, of all people, to give her credit. Diane, who had more credibility and power than Gaga back when the song first came out but needed a "big" name to get press and help with the campaign (because that sort of thing happens with the Oscar race) so name dropped Gaga all over the place for the song. Honestly, I'm side eying Diane for how she answered this because she's raved about Gaga numerous times during the Oscar race last year (and back when TIHTY was a contender) and  worked with Gaga on the ASIB soundtrack.

They... Made it together? I mean Gaga did the production and the arrangements. Some arrangements can actually be part of songwriting. Gaga never acted as if she had written the entire song. It was a collaborative effort. Producers get songwriting credits all the time, and Gaga's the only credited producer of TIHTY.

Sis post ARTPOP but before the triple whammy of Joanne (I know some people love to drag it, but it debuted at #1 proving that she didn't need Tony to get a #1 after the ARTPOP era and being written off by so many)/Superbowl/ASIB Diane was definitely more powerful. There was even a Sunday morning profile on  her a few years ago that called her one of the most powerful women in music.

I actually think this is what happened. She was very complimentary during the ASIB Oscar run, even tho Shallow was her competitor for the song she wrote for that RBG documentary, and kept calling Gaga one of her good friends, etc,....but also kept bringing up that she's been nominated over ten times and so on. I don't blame her for being a bit salty and I think she does consider Gaga a friend, but there was a better way to answer a five year old drama instead of ducking and diving and giving an answer with shady implications.

She wrote an entire extra instrumental part to it as Diane has said before and slightly changed lyrics. It doesn't diminish Gaga's impact. No one else could've done this song as well as she did. 

It's the song that made me a monster so I might be biased.

+she was also probably salty that her song in ASIB got the "intentionally bad song" reputation among the viewers because of how it was presented in the movie. Most people actually like that song in isolation. Not when you see Ally go from ARUTW to that.

The Emmy Award winning and Oscar nominated song, written by one of our generations greatest song writers, a songwriter Gaga constitutes to work with on other projects, isn't that great? Ya'll are using streaming numbers to measure the value in a song that Gaga used to publicly address her own history of sexual abuse?

Insulting RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Diane Warren, and Till It Happens To You doesn't make Gaga look better. She was thirsty for an Oscar. She got one when she deserved it. We have to be able to take the stan goggles off sometimes.
