The representative of the society, who preferred to remain anonymous, told the daily, “A long discussion took place among 30 founding members, which resulted in taking a decision to make an application next month to the Ministry of Social Affairs to approve the establishment of the society under the name of ‘Freedom’, pointing out that the goal of the society is to promote awareness and culture to both the society and the gays. He added homosexuals will be able to join the society provided that a member plays an active role in raising awareness and help homosexuals who are subjected to harassment and persecution. He also added: ‘We submitted a request in 2007 and was rejected, but this time the reasons are based on human rights and civil and economic rights of homosexuals. It is reported that the Ministry of Commerce recently launched a campaign to remove slogans that symbolize homosexuality (rainbow) from a number of commercial places. Homosexuality has existed far longer than ANY religion and is prominent even in the animal kingdom. Sometimes I just wanna give up when people say it’s a “choice”. In the past Kuwait was a lot more liberal and free with alcohol being legal and even Jewish people living there. He's a hypocritical anti-Islam obsessed individual who thinks Muslims are the only religion in the world to discriminate against the gays (ironically, I think he said he's catholic at one point in a thread about homophobia in the Christian community ) OT: I don't think it'll pass but this is incredibly brave of them. There is so much going on in that region, and in Kuwait in general being one of the most conservative countries in the area, but seeing that people even stood up to get permission is something to be thought of as admirable. The user I quoted that from blames it on Christianity, specifically, mentioning God, when the primary religion in Kuwait isn’t Christianity. It’s due to an automated thinking, but most people are clearly misinformed, especially first world country people, seeing as nobody talks about Kuwait that much. However, a quick Google can easily fix the problem there By the way, the only religion, who capitalizes the “G” in God, instead of “god”, which is what pagans use, are the Christians.
