She is young and stupid, and there is absolutely no need to ruin her life by sending her to jail. Spending any amount of time incarcerated in not going to make her a better person. 

Community service sounds like a perfect solution here.

What she did was immature and who knows how many other products she has tampered with. 

That being said, I think a jail sentence is ridiculous. She should at most get a lot of community service hours to complete and some fines. A criminal record would be unfair for her, considering she is a teenager and everyone made mistakes as a teenager.

Most people who drive drunk don’t even do jail time. 

They PAY A FINE and do COMMUNITY SERVICE.
