A Polish employee then posted disturbing phrases from the bible, such as death and blood is one part of fate that awaits homosexuals. The employee was asked to remove the comments but refused because he's a "catholic and it violates his values" IKEA then chose to fire the employee as they of course don't accept offensive comments against anyone. This action pissed off the Polish Attorney General Zbigniew Ziobro who now is encouraging a boycott of IKEA and ordered an investiation against the company. Luckily IKEA still stands by their action with following statement: “On this occasion, we published an article on our intranet, presenting our values and position on this issue, in accordance with the communication of the Ingka Group. One of our employees published a comment under the article, expressing his opinion in a way that could affect the rights and dignity of LGBT + people. In addition, the employee actually used quotes from the Old Testament about death, blood in the context of what fate should meet homosexual people. Many employees raised by this entry contacted our HR department. The basis of our corporate culture is freedom of opinion, tolerance and respect for each employee. Our human rights and equality policy, supported by our Code of Conduct, addresses in particular non-tolerance for discrimination and exclusionary behaviour. We respect people from all religious backgrounds and appreciate the fact that we are different. This does not mean, however, that we support exclusionary behaviour in the name of any other view. Freedom of Speech means that someone's right to say something is protected within certain limits. ... A person has the right to say it, but they also have the consequences. Like, what about the people who don't agree with your beliefs? So the "it's my opinion" thing works when you want to post something offensive, but it doesn't work when other people call you out on it?
