Without autotune?  Like who? If you know please send a link because I've watched compilation videos of good Kpop singers, none of them are impressive.

Kpop idols are corporate whores who push unrealistic beauty standards, nationalistic propaganda and serve as a distraction when bigger scandals and issues happen in SK. I would feel sorry for them, you know, for often being overworked and malnourished, causing them to pass out on stage, and being stalked by absolutely crazy '' fans '', but they sold their soul to the devil for fame and money.

I do not understand how anyone from the western world could stan these prostitutes without feeling guilt about funding the idol industry which seems to be anything but functional and healthy for the idols and those who are affected by the ideas they push. Now, I'm not saying that the entertainment scene in the west is much better, but does anyone think the idol industry could ever exist in the western world like it does in SK? Lol, don't think so.

Oof, and don't get me started on the fans. I would be fine if they'd be able to enjoy kpop without making it seem bigger than it is, trashy pop music that's all style, no substance. But no, they glorify everything they do to high heavens, it's like a cult at this point. Every idol group has a gross, obsessive, fanatical cult surrounding it. And the '' woke kings/queens '' nonsense? Bro.. Lmao...

I'm not even saying that I don't listen to kpop. I love MOMOLAND, all their singles have been catchy, but admittedly corny pop goodness. But that's all it is, nothing else.

I think hate is a strong word, I don’t have the energy to hate kpop I just don’t like it, you hear one song you heard them all.

I use to like a couple songs and listen to them now even, but I don’t really last a long time listening to them, it feels so, inorganic, like you can say “but western pop is just as manufacturedd” yeah okay but at least I can’t feel it! I don’t watch Gaga or Marina or idk Lana and think oh man that looks like something they didn’t create at all.

Also i really don’t find anything attractive about their dancing, at all, I feel is something that blinds a lot of people

K-Pop can be pop, can be EDM, can be R&B, can be Hip-Hop etc. It's amazing how people can embarrass themselves like that :poot:

I totally get your point but this thread is ridiculous :laughga:

Kpop isn't only edm and that stuff, it includes various gebres like rock, r&b, hip hop, etc. Also, there are pretty great vocalists out there (Red Velvet's Wendy for example).

I used to think the same way about kpop before becoming a stan but everything changed when I found Red Velvet's music. Also, kpop is still more fun than western mainstream music anyways so I don't really care. I love me some deep music but I enjoy basic bops too.

is it not a little problematic to claim to hate a whole culture and countrys worth of music 🙊

plus the inauthenticity has been beaten to death even though it makes no sense. the kpop artists are all professionally trained to act, sing, and dance but sure honey mr industry plant khalid is authentic :saladga:

(note idgaf about industry plants at all but somehow i feel like some of yall do...)

As Korean, I dont get the point of defining kpop as a genre, of course I can see there are several significance difference between kpop and 'western pop' but these differences not make kpop as "genre":toofunny:  I mean if you say you dont want Gaga to work with kpop artist, does it mean that you don't Gaga to work with korean or what:saladga:

THIS

It's ridiculous to think people of some country will only listen to EDM 365 days:toofunny: and at this point there are literally 0 EDM on top 10 in Korea music chart

I do not hate K-Pop, I like a few songs from the genre because they are really fun, happy pop songs that are really well produced.

I have never met a K-Pop fan who is a casual listener and not some crazy stan. My point is, I feel like active K-Pop listeners are in it partially for  the music but to them it is mostly about fitting in with friends and having an online community you can relate and actively participate with.
