Why didn’t Scott just sell it to Taylor instead?

If he’s worried that if Taylor bought her masters ONLY. He wouldn’t be able to sell the label worth $300M.

so why not just let Taylor pay for that amount instead of others.

why didn’t he consult her.

same thing. Taylor will own her(everyone’s) masters. And he’d still be CEO

I’m confused

Maybe he didn't want to have her as a partner. Scooter is very influential in the music industry.

Scooter Braun has tons of connections in the industry. It’s not just the money but also the partnership and connections Braun can bring to him. In the music industry, the more connections you have to the big people, the more powerful you are.

Does it matter? Damage is done

because he is bitter that she didn't take his ridiculous offer that would bind her to his label until she is well into her forties. In case you don't know he wanted her to agree to put out one album and in return get one of her albums masters which is ridiculous as Taylor released 6 albums over a timespan of 11 years. That means she would stay about another 11 or 12 years, so she would already be over 40 years old by the time she would get her masters and aint nobody got time for that. She has expressed when she signed with universal how important  it is to her to own her master recordings from then on and even then back in the press it was said that it seemed like Scott had little intention to let Taylor have her masters, in order to have her stick around and not leave. But she left anyways so he must have gotten his Betterthanrevenge.mp3 on and decide to be a d*ck

But she can own the label and still be an artist under it, no?

What? She switched labels, she was never interested in buying big machine records, she just wants her master recordings which constitute the majority of the label's worth.

Oh that’s my point. She could’ve bought it. Or she doesn’t have enough amount to buy the entirety including others’?

Scott's intention was to sell Big Machine. Unfortunately, only small country artists are under Big Machine, so Taylor's masters make up for ~90% of its worth. Big Machine simply hasn't got much to offer besides Taylor and her masters. Taylor was only offered the opportunity to obtain her old masters through renewing her contract with Big Machine for 6 another albums. It's pretty obvious what Scott's aim was at that point. He wanted to chain Taylor on Big Machine to raise its worth but she refused to and went to Republic instead, so he had no choice but to sell her masters.

Would Scooter have bought Big Machine if hadn't been for Taylor's old masters or Taylor herself generating a huge amount of income with her new albums for Big Machine? No.

because without her, the purchase would’ve been useless.

If Scott wants the full price including her masters plus others, why not just let her be the one who buys that FULL PRICE
