Good! It takes a lot of money to compete, so it’s good to get ahead now!

Still think he may end up being a VP pick or in someone’s cabinet, but you need money to get attention.

Pointing out a candidate takes money from big money donations isn’t some crazy, smear-like critique.

I have been called a “Crazy Bernie Bro,” a racist, misogynist, Trump helper simply for stating I support Sanders.

The notion “the far left” is somehow some crazy fringe group is inaccurate.

Our platform is now mainstream, rewatch the debates.

I think that is awful, and I'm sorry that has happened to you.

But I was there on the ground when Bernie lost to Hillary and I saw first-hand how savagely the "Bernie or bust" folks tore apart the Clinton campaign. That  was a fringe group  that actively worked to elect Trump because they didn't get their way. If you don't think those people still exist, you're mistaken.

Far-left is mainstream? Let's unpack that. Around 50% of Americans support Donald Trump, and we can roughly assume they don't subscribe to the "far-left" mindset. According to the latest national Democratic primary poll, 28% of Democratic voters support Bernie and Warren, which is barely more than Biden's current support.

We're calling this mainstream? Sure, Medicare for All polls well at the surface level, but approval for "abolishing private insurance" (they key to M4A) is abysmal.

Somebody needs to put you in democratic leadership. You already got the telling progressives to shut up and fall in line speech perfectly rehearsed.

HRC was attacked by the left because she called herself a progressive who gets things done when her and the likes of Pelosi have given the American people a false sense of what it means to be a progressive. Orchestrating a coup and promoting regime change wars is not a capital P progressive position. Going to the African American community, minority communities and LGBTQ+ communities in election time and saying that you empathize with their pain only to implement legislation that does not benefit the people is not a progressive position. The left wing of the Democratic Party is not lodging insults at the centrists to lose to Donald Trump. We are telling the centrists that their days leading the party and not delivering to the people are numbered. It’s time for the centrists to fall in line so the progressive wing can demonstrate how a progressive populist agenda will obliterate Donald Trump.

Um... Nancy Pelosi has passed more progressive policies in the United States than the entire Democratic field combined... so...

The repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell? Pelosi. The Affordable Care Act (with the public option in the House)? Miss Nancy. Dodd-Frank? Nancy (honorable mention to Warren!). Passing the Equal Rights Act in the House? Nancy. Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act? Mrs. Speaker Pelosi.

I don't even like Pelosi! But she's certainly done more to move actual US domestic policy towards the left than Senator Sanders. To act as if she should "fall in line" to democratic socialists, rather than acknowledge that the Left stands on her shoulders and has her to thank for every piece of progress (big or small) America  has made since the Iraq war, is a real pity.

I'm kind of baffled that you think Mayor Pete is a platitude-slinging nothing-burger when Bernie Sanders has never actually accomplished... well any major progressive accomplishment in his life-long career as a politician lol.

Watching Elizabeth Warren talk about bankruptcy on the Dr. Phil got me into politics when I was a kid and she's still my favorite politician to ever grace the Senate. I support Medicare for All, her student debt forgiveness plan, healthcare coverage for undocumented migrants (and every person) in the US, breaking up every major tech firm, re-passing the Volcker Rule, and a total ban on every single gun in the United States. But yeah I'm a centrist boomer.

Yes, we are calling it mainstream. All the candidates are literally running on Bernie's campaign from 4 years ago. I'm not saying it's the first time these things are discussed. But they are all taking notes from his campaign.

Which policies are the other candidates copying off Bernie?

Stated that he does not support tuition free college and called himself a progressive in the same sentence - laughable. Argues that it would be subsidizing for the rich. Since when do the rich go to public colleges? Deal breaker #2

Straight up told a black woman that he is not asking for black people to vote for him when confronted about his terrible record with POC neighborhoods in South Bend. Deal Breaker #3

His claim to fame is his plan to combat the negative effects of the automation of the workplace. Ok. What’s the plan? He’s on the record saying that plan specifics are overrated. WHAT?

Are we really going to vote for a dude who criticizes his dem opponents for being too detail focused and then says they only speak in platitudes at the same time - When he himself speaks in platitudes all the time?!

He said during the debate he DOES support free or reduced costs to college except for the 1%. Also, Mayor Pete was at the town hall expressing his grief and plans to further the investigation of the police officer who had his body camera off... he was not there to get votes or to be anything more than the Mayor of South Bend. He was doing his job, but worded it incorrectly. I am under the impression he meant he was there to look into the investigation, not to host a rally for votes...

The rhetoric surrounding all of these:

Medicare For All, tuition free college, not taking big money, focusing more on a grassroots campaign.

Key issues in Bernie’s 2016 campaign. It all sounds exactly the same. Meanwhile in years past the tone was different.

Since when do rich people go to public college?

Here's what happens in Miami Dade College and FIU. Rich people driving their BMWs, Lexus and other nice cars stay in mommy and daddies vacation condo in Brickell. They get their Florida residence after one year so in their sophomore year they say the are living in their own, apply for financial aid and poof they are entitled to all the ways normal students with middle income families pay for public college.

If you don't know this scam yet you probably haven't been to college yet.

Rich people always find a way not to pay for anything. Always.

Those who support Barack Obama's Medicare for all solution via a public option (which is a decade old, btw):

Hillary Clinton (2016), Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, Beto O'Rourke, Kirsten Gillibrand, Amy Klobuchar, Corey Booker, Julian Castro, Michael Bennett, Delany, Hickenlooper, Inslee, Swallwell, Williamson, Yang.

Those who support Bernie's healthcare plan:

Bernie, Warren, de Blasio.

--

Those who support tuition free college for everyone at every school:

Warren, Mike Gravel

Those who support Hillary Clinton's debt-free and free community college plan (yes, she put it out first):

Bernie, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, Beto O'Rourke, Kirsten Gillibrand, Corey Booker, Julian Castro, Delany, Hickenlooper, Inslee, Swallwell, Williamson, Yang.

Tell me more about how they're falling in line with Bernie, but in the meantime I'll leave this here:

Given the specific exception, he would be wise to put out a plan that lays out how the 1% would be excluded, what “reduced costs” means, and how the “reduction” would be paid for. I imagine he won’t, however, because I am using my prerogative as a voter to call bullshit.

Pete’s problem isn’t just a matter of misspeaking. It’s a matter of being tone deaf and having a massive blind spot in an era in which we are increasingly aware of the vicious cycles that hurt minority communities.

I do not shame Buttigieg for being ignorant - though many of my peers would not be so kind - I shame him for attempting to give him a job promotion when he himself has admitted that he has made mistakes.

Buttigieg is not a villain, but there are better options.

You know they're seething when they start calling a religious gay midwestern mayor of a small town in Indiana the Democratic "establishment."

Again, taking money from corporations or Wall Street does not make you a pawn. Obama did more with Dodd-Frank to regulate Wall Street than any other president in history -- including FDR -- and his campaign too sought corporate dollars.

Omg another loss for Bernie!

Kamala raised $2 million in the 24 hours after her debate night. He could never.

I think Bernie is cool. If you truly think he's the best candidate, then you should be comfortable he will win. Instead of taking the time to write this post, you could have donated to his grassroots-funded campaign and gotten 3 friends or family members to chip in 5 bucks too. He'll need it to compete.

In 2016, Bernie lost to Hillary Clinton (the wildly unpopular WOMAN in the fatally sexist United States)  by nearly 4 million votes. 3,708,294 votes, not superdelegate votes, but VOTES. In 2019, he is running essentially the same campaign. Pete is tone-deaf? There's a saying about glass houses and stones, but I can't seem to remember it :gum:
