he'd better start spending it, cuz he hasn't budged in the polls in two months and he didn't exactly have a breakout performance at last week's debates. As we've seen from Sanders in 2016 and Beto in 2018, simply raising a lot of money guarantees nothing.

Maybe he should get some Spanish lessons? :ladyhaha:

I was enamored by Pete at first also, but once you take a closer look, he’s a complete stooge.

It’s not just corporate money. He’s a smooth talker, prim and proper, so he is genuinely garnering a solid following from casual dem voters.

It is smear campaign when they don't  even have valid proof on what they have claimed. Lots of this spoke person says begins with "I think.." which means they are making assumptions, not facts.

There is plenty of proof that the blessed mayor is taking money from big-time Democratic bundlers that funded Obama’s campaigns. Again, you do not understand the meaning of a smear. A smear is when something is a false equivalence. This is a fact. Just because you like him doesn’t mean you should make excuses for him. Fact is Pete is an empty vessel for his donors.

Smear: damage the reputation of (someone) by false accusations; slander.

Saying something that is a FACT is not a smear. It may be an ATTACK. But it's not a smear.

What do you think about politicians taking PAC and or lobbyists money?

That’s easy when you are cozying up with Wall Street

Expect big #s for Biden and Harris too

Senator sanders takes union pac money. Considering his long history with unions, I find that appropriate. Calling somebody out for being corrupt is not a smear—it’s called making a contrast.

Hey boys, I sense some confusion/ignorance, so let’s get some facts straight real quick.

Campaigns don’t “take”* PAC money.

The maximum $ amount any single person can give to a candidate is $2,800.

The maximum $ amount any single corporation can give to a candidate is $2,800.

The maximum $ amount any single PAC can give to a candidate is $5,000*.

Obviously, Buttigieg’s Q2 haul was not the product of PAC/corporate money. That could not even come close to explaining his $25 million figure.

He had nearly 300,000 unique donors over the past 3 months who, on average, donated 50 bucks. This was by and large a grassroots effort.

I want to comment on the bizarre notion that he’s “cozying up with Wall Street.” Buttigieg has done one NYC fundraiser, and it was for a Broadway audience.

You don’t have to slander a well-intentioned Democrat because he beat your fav in fundraising this quarter.

I would say even "attack" takes it too far. It's a criticism, sure, but simply pointing out something that is factually accurate isn't an "attack."

The fact that you think Buttigieg is selling out to anyone for a mere $2,800 is... cringe.

Barack Obama did more the regulate Wall Street than any other American president in HISTORY, yet you’re under the impression that he sold out to them somehow? Or him taking corporate donations changed any of his regulatory feats? And Pete winning the support of former Obama supporters makes him a sellout?

According to the far left, if you’re not a democratic socialist or at least support their policies, that means your a corporatist sellout.

Any Democrat running for president would do more to regulate Wall Street and big business than even the BEST Republican president. Even Joe.

So let’s cut this insane bullsh*t where we try to hurt the reputation of anyone in the primary that isn’t our fav. There is too much at stake to be petty.

During the second quarter, Mr. Buttigieg attended about 50 high-dollar fund-raising events, for which ticket prices typically run $2,800, the maximum individual contribution allowed by federal law in the primary. But he also held 20 “grass-roots” fund-raising events, for which ticket prices start as low as $15.

And from March 24 to June 22, the Buttigieg campaign’s combined spending on digital advertising on Facebook and Google ($1.3 million) exceeded that of any other Democratic candidate except Mr. Biden and Ms. Warren, according to Bully Pulpit Interactive, a Democratic digital communications firm.

Mr. Buttigieg has wooed tech executives in Silicon Valley and, as a former Navy reservist in Afghanistan, has courted military veterans. He is also popular among educated liberals on the coasts; this weekend he will hold fund-raisers on Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.

Despite his success, Mr. Buttigieg’s strategy presents some challenges. Accepting Silicon Valley money has become controversial at a time when big tech companies are under siege for lapses with privacy and misinformation. And his popularity with wealthy white liberals is great for fund-raising but so far has not helped him win much support from people of color, without whom no candidate can survive key early-primary contests in the South and West.
