Payola still happens tho, doesn't it?

I Never knew it was even legal/illegal just something that was a business practice in the industry.

Lol no payola doesn’t happen the way it was: paying a dj for a spin

it’s now let me take you out to dinner and woo you and nothing direct to the music but “hint hint”

but you can’t call that payola in a court of law

People can multitask. Quit nitpicking. Their point is what is “normal” or “ legal” varies because of the time period and politics.

Here’s another example: payola used to be a legal loophole to have a number 1 hit single.

There happy?

Prove your point for whatever you want, but dont use a crime against humanity for talking about this ridiculous situation. This is not comparable

Thanks to that I now have the album twice on Amazon, one with the capitalized R, one with the original spelling :green:  :poot: . Either way, being the music business or not, this is purely disgusting  :madge: . I hope Taylor ( and any other artist who is affected, if there are any ) will get her revenge :neyde: .

Ew, David!

This isn't about living well or being wealthy! Don't you see what's going on? It's about her right to own her own sh it. Damn you're dum b as fu ck. It's about others stealing what you should rightfully own because YOU CREATED IT. Damn bro grow a brain and stop thinking about it just from a shallow perspective. Money! Of course Taylor has enough but just because she has a lot of money doesn't mean she shouldn't fight to have HER OWN MUSIC owned by HER who created in the first place.

Wow first you insult me for that ..

and you really think i'm gonna listen to someone like you, smh this went really out of hand, you cant just talk to people like that

We’re discussing “legality” and we’re gonna damn well mention what was considered legal which we now see as WRONG present-day.

People don't get how much this actually means. But I guess you'll never create something worth fighting for.

Do you really have to personally insult him.

Taylor isn't your girlfriend or your mother, you're totally misunderstanding what he's saying.

Why is it so serious that you felt the need to call him dum'b and grow a brain. 🤭

Totally uncalled for and speaks volumes about your personality and your own brain status and wether or not you have one too. Not cool and I don't think we should argue we are all fans of the same amazing woman.

True, but we all know something is Legal (Now) but that doesn't make it ok to compare to slavery, segregation and other serious crimes of the past.

I think he was just saying that tbh.

It's a bit much to compare Taylor's art to segregation etc.

All way out of hand tho. It's so unnecessary these quoting and stuff in the comments. 🙇

Or don’t tone police him?

all he did was list examples that was apparently “way too triggered”

All he mentioned was segregation being legal back in the day.

The original comment mentioned segregation and not slavery. Only you brought up slavery.

if we have to “politically correct” tiptoe around examples, that gets us now where.

The issue at hand is what is legal and what is not. Unjust laws require the legal system to do better. And that’s the topic at hand  is of Artists Ownership.

Bbhomemaker triggered that MMMMMMM listed segregation used to be legal and me defending MMMMMMM that it is okay to list examples of unjust legality

Man or woman or whatever you desire, you're reproaching me while also insulting my brain status as if you know me. If you actually know how to read, my comment never mentioned that I know Taylor Swift personally but rather how important it is to acknowledge the relevance of this issue. It's clear that my point is not to just "defend" Taylor Swift but rather all artists who should rightfully own what they create. However I do apologize because you're right, I shouldn't attack anyone at a personal level, that's not right and rather than helping the cause it creates more conflict and the point is to have a smart and well thought out conversation in regard of this matter.
