Sweden: Outdoor smoking ban comes into force tomorrow July 1st

Starting from tomorrow it will be forbidden to smoke in public outdoor places like restaurants and cafés with outdoor serving areas, bus stops and train platforms, thanks to our socialist parties. The ban is another step towards the goal to have the country tobacco-free by the year of 2025.

It's great if the smoking disappears, but as a liberal I think this is a stupid move.  I'm not a smoker myself, but it's an attack on the human freedom and it's not something that the government should have a say on whether you smoke or not

I hate smoking with a PASSION. I don’t care if it inflicts on your rights, your losing your right to live by smoking that cigarette

As an ex smoker I must say that this is an amazing change and laws.

Costa Rica is a tobacco free country, I couldn't even smoke at my balcony, I had to go out of the condominium and smoke on the street, a 5 minutes walk, at some points I just reduced the smoking until I completely stopped, because it was annoying to go out in the rain.

Good. Ban it completely or invent ***s that don't smell like evil, don't ruin houses, clothes, hair and only affect the smoker, not anyone nearby.

It's a tough call to make, but I always support banning of smoking in a public area and to designate specific areas to smoking. I don't think banning smoking in certain areas is bad. It is the people's right to smoke if they choose to (though we should provide support so that they may stop), but second hand smoke is also a big problem, and everyone should have the chance not to be around cigarette smoke in a public space, such as in outdoor serving areas and train stations etc.

I'm currently studying abroad in Russia, and there is an extremely strong smoking culture here. I can't step outside my apartment without smelling smoke nearly constantly while on the street. We of course shouldn't criminalize tobacco use and addiction, but keeping the damaging effects of tobacco smoke contained and separate to me makes good sense.

if they're gonna do that they should set up free services for smokers/free nictotine gum etc, bc it's a hard addiction and you can't just go "oop! banned, I no longer wanna smoke"

It's up to you if you wanna smoke or not, so yeah I'd say it is. 

Governments shouldn't meddle in what people do to their own bodies or should they pull up a ban on everything that's bad for you? Candy, fat food, alcohol etc?

E-cigs are included in the ban. So it's just a straight up ban without any attempts to help the ones who struggle with the addiction.

It takes more than one occasional second hand smoke at the bus stop for it to be harmful. If you wanna remove the second hand smoke you should ban people to smoke in their own homes as it's the family members who are in the risk zone as they're being constantly exposed to it.
