Alphaz 7,958
Subtle way to say I'm gonna release singles until I get a number one hit, then I'll drop the album. I see what you did there.
Ronlop 6,882
It's clearly not what she wants in my opinion but what her label does.
OMonster 14,720
I think it's really surprising when artists don't want to release albums. I mean, isn't that the pinnacle manifestation of an artist's craft - a full body of work all tied together with a clear meaning and vision? To create an identity for your music, I imagine, would be the most exciting part of it all. Spoiler This is probably why Katy *does* want to release an album, but is playing the game her record label has set her to. It's pretty clear that they won't back a full album at this moment, and are looking for some reassurances before releasing a complete body of work again - hence the 'we'll see'. subtext / fantasy
Reginald 13,841
I'm here for it. All of the recent singles have been album worthy. 365 is THAT BOP
Bambino 24,300
Nah she just wants a hit single so she can call it the first single from her next album Paulina Rubio tease.
Joshie S 6,197
I just think that the music industry is constantly changing lately, and in the past 5 years... record labels have no idea what to do anymore.. Lady Gaga said this herself. I feel they're just trying anything and everything to see what works, and hooks people again. It's sad, the music industry. I'm glad she at least gets to release music, though.. it's something. The melody that you choose can rescue you ♥

socotra 3,342
tbh I've always wondered why this system of distribution hasn't been picked up by pop artists the way it has by hip hop/rap artists. I love that Ariana Grande has been operating that way. albums are great but I also feel like the intensely orchestrated, every-step-planned album cycles that pop artists typically do is suffocating and burdensome. why not release a song whenever she feels like it? idk, i don't really see it as pining for a hit given she's already on a string of chart duds. she also completely reverted to 2011 pop with Never Really Over, anathema to today's charts, so if she's trying to get a hit, she's going about it all wrong lol
